You're probably mixing up the Plus and non-Plus editions of the P5N32-E SLI; I am pretty sure actually. This version (v1104) for the Plus didn't come out until yesterday on ASUS's website. Thanks again in advance for anyone wanting to mod this one :)

Hey Fzeven, I was looking at the "Slics tested" page and noticed an entry that might be useful to your mod attempts.

112-CK-NF75-K1 (e7100/630i) - Bios Type: Phoenix - AwardBios v6.00PG Bios Version: 1.5
Slic: Asus mod Fzeven, tested by Rebeldawg
http://www.box.net/shared/qpsw0vwsg4

Looking further i noticed it also has the checksum errors. I wonder if EVGA put some kind of security in their bios.

Hi everyone,

I have a DFI LANPARTY LT X48-T2R, which has already been modded here:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=28310&postcount=9489
and
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=29118&postcount=9846

I flashed it them from the command line several times (AWDFLASH X48DD320.BIN /cks/sn/py/cc/cd/cp/ld/qi/WB/ch) and with the windows tool, too (just to be sure) but every time it didn't show me a SLIC installed in Everest (latest version, actually using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition). Could someone mod it again (maybe Fzeven using the same method as used here for the DFI LANPARTY DK X48-T2R which is pretty similar: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=28932&postcount=9780)

Thank you very much for your help,

it cannot be done. I was trying (if you do a search on dell) with a Gx240 as well as a diminsion 4100. the exe files when you extract them they still for some reason arent usable. we need to find the tool called DellDeco.exe then and only them will we be able to do the dells. My best advice is to do what I did. Sell the dell VIA ebay or creigslist. And build another one. or pull the processor, memory, roms, drives ect.. And just get a regular atx board and case and put the rest of your stuff in it. I did this with an hp. Grabbed the board out of a dead xp and used the rest of the parts from my gx240. Hope this helps as I have put many weeks into trying to do the dells myself. They are sub standard and propentary to DELL which now makes me frown at the sight of the word "Dell" LMAO Dell in my eyes is Dumb Emachines Last Longer

it cannot be done.
Hi Simbalage22,

Thanks for the quick reply I managed to locate

Can't you do the mod with this utility rather than having to extract & decompress the files?

This way all I assume all I would have to do is double click on the edited exe to flash bios.

Need a smart guy to mod the following BIOS please:

**Motherboard Manufacturer and Model
Asus IPIBL-LB (it's an OEM HP motherboard)
Specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01324212&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=3688702&os=2093&lang=en

**Bios revision:
5.25

**Bios Type:
AMI

**Bios Link

Direct link to file:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL23952/pv-61889-1/sp37525.exe

Download page if direct link stops working:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=pv-61889-1&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=3688702&os=2093&lang=en

The board is very similar to the Asus IPIBL-LA, so I am assuming that the BIOS mod might be similar to the one discussed here:

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=1962&page=2

This BIOS may be OEM locked:

Seems that I have no luck with the new asus bios for my motherboard.
Vista is patched (thank you very much for your support), but my system is very unstable after flashing it. Gone back to 0803 and hope Asus will fix it in one of the next bios releases...

Hopefully someone can help :)

Need a smart guy to mod the following BIOS please:

**Motherboard Manufacturer and Model
Asus IPIBL-LB (it's an OEM HP motherboard)
Specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01324212&lc=en&cc=ca&dlc=en&product=3688702&os=2093&lang=en

**Bios revision:
5.25

**Bios Type:
AMI

**Bios Link

Direct link to file:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software10/COL23952/pv-61889-1/sp37525.exe

Download page if direct link stops working:

The board is very similar to the Asus IPIBL-LA, so I am assuming that the BIOS mod might be similar to the one discussed here:

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=1962&page=2

This BIOS may be OEM locked:

Hey there,

This BIOS did not work :(

This is the same method I had tried (by following the stickies) and unfortunately it does not work. I flashed it using the flash.bat included in the zip file and according to Everest ACPI, there is no SLIC entry there.

Any ideas??

If it supports you're flashrom then you could try uniflash to flash the mod1 bios.

Just for a laugh i tried using my awdflash boot cd with the newest version of awdflash (and 3 other versions to verify). It told me there was a compatibility issue with the bios or something and kicked me back to the prompt.

What does uniflash do that any of the other flash programs cant?

This motherboard is frustrating.

Hey there,

This BIOS did not work :(

This is the same method I had tried (by following the stickies) and unfortunately it does not work. I flashed it using the flash.bat included in the zip file and according to Everest ACPI, there is no SLIC entry there.

Any ideas??

Hi StanD, hi Petar,

First of all thanks to Petar and the other modders here for investing there time and work. I use the same board and tried every modded BIOS for it which has been posted here. All with the same result: no SLIC-table shown in Everest and no activation of Vista. So the LT X48-T2R seems to be a little bit difficult to mod. There exist working mods for the UT X48-T2R and the DK X48-T2R, which both are pretty similar to the LT. Maybe someone could try a different method for the LT? Unfortunately I don't have the knowledge to mod it by myself.

Im very sorry for the inconvenience and thanks again for any help.

Hey Fzeven,

I also flashed back to the Dell one posted a few tests ago and checked the ACPI. The following tables are present:

APIC, DSDT, FACP, FACS, FONG, HPET, RSD PTR, RSDT, SLIC, WDRT

The original tables are as follows:

APIC, DSDT, FACP, FACS, HPET, MCFG, RSD PTR, RSDT, and WDRT

Where did the FONG come from and where did MCFG go? I wonder if this is causing anything? Im just speculating at this point, since your the pro. At least the SLIC is present, thats a good sign.

We can save a lot of time when I don't have to try what Fzeven already did!!!

IMO it's a winflash matter why the mods give checksum errors...............

It's anotherkind of flashtool.

Good question, as I have been taking apart many of these mods just to see how it was done and this one is unusal from what I have seen. Cbrom show an OEM7 component where the acpi usually is and acpi is at the bottom? Hex dumped eom.bin and there was your slic!!! I'd be interested in the process too but more so why. Release all components up and including acpi place oem.bin then replace all components swapping the two???

Coould you post here or elsewhere... just trying to learn :)

It is a qiuck oem7 method developed by @yen, look at the "Mod your own..." thread, for more info.

Edit, The method is in fact a manual mod for GB bioses, but shortend.

The modules weren't released and put back at reversed order to replace the ACPI table.
The bios file was hex edited to insert the oem7 module.
Try releasing it, cbrom will give you an error.

Petar,

I think this is what you were referring to?

...OK here is my NEW Gigabyte way:

Use cbrom32_115 therefore. Extract and release the nocompress module:

cbrom32_115 ep45dq6.10a /nocompress extract
cbrom32_115 ep45dq6.10a /nocompress release

Then add iasus1.bin by tommiy
cbrom32_115 ep45dq6.10a /isa iasus1.bin

Finally add the nocompress module again,
cbrom32_115 ep45dq6.10a /nocompress UTS64K.BIN

Done.

Thanks for trust in my knowledge. The PCI mod had got a checksum error, this corrected new mod I don't have to provide to you anymore. Anyway it was a lot of fun.....and a good chance to get a working PCI mod.....

PS: cbrom182 isn't able to extract a nocompressrom.

Am I right? If so, where can I get cbrom32_115 and the iasus1.bin by tommoy.

Thanks!

Petar,

I think this is what you were referring to?

Am I right? If so, where can I get cbrom32_115 and the iasus1.bin by tommoy.

Thanks!

- StanD
The bios that are you refering to was a special case, so I wouldn't advise using cbrom32_115 .
BTW. I've never used it...:p

Here are the ISA modules you are looking for:
http://rapidshare.com/files/127810363/Updated_ISA_modules.zip

iasus.bin is for general use, and iasus1.bin for GB boards with S3 issue.

Yes as you pointed out though in this case you didnt release all modules and then add them back you edit/created oem.bin and inserted in where acpi was, am I correct(as in the second post)? If so the thing I always get stuck on is calculatiing sizes and addresses... but I am stumbling my way through with your help :) Hopefully I am stumbling in the right direction :D As for how you guys figured this out one your own????

Thanks again

ifndef :
I just want to post the info I've learned here so not trying to sound like know it all.

First lets go into the reason for releasing then inserting the modules starting with ACPITBL. It is done so to minimize modules(files) inside bios.bin from shifting(moving) from their original locations. Specifically if these sensivite modules MEMINIT, MINIT and GV3 are in bios.bin. I don't know exactly why, but my guess is there is some code that has direct calls or jump instead of releative calls or jump, or bios does some kind of checksum on those module, or this is required for decompression, so the rest of the code in these module must be in the right place. Maybe others can add why exactly.

Another thing to understand is most modules in bios.bin are compressed using LHA compression. Before the modules can be executed or used, they must be decompressed. The fastest memory in a PC is RAM, so, bios gets copied to highest addresses in RAM before anything is done. So if you bios is 256kb, it gets copied to FFFC000 in RAM. If bios is 512kb, its copied to FFF80000. If 1mb then to FFF00000. Those three addresses are very important if you want to do a Super Static v3 (SSV3) mod to an AWARD bios.

SSV3 mod requires you do the following:
1. Add a new SLIC table to bios file
2. Extend RSDT and XSDT(if acpi2.0) tables inside ACPITBL.BIN for pointer(s) address to the new SLIC table
3 Change OEMID and OEM TABLE ID to match the SLIC.

When you extend the RSDT/XSDT table inside ACPITBL.BIN, that makes the file larger in size. If you put the acpitbl.bin file in its original position, because its bigger, the rest of modules will be moved back towards end of bios.bin. And if you have those sensitive modules, you might brick the motherboard.
A member here, Yen, came up with a solution to keep the sensitive modules in place, and its done by making a bogus file that will match original ACPITBL.BIN size. The bogus file is just random garbage data thats used as a buffer. It wastes space but for good reason. Not to waste all the space, Yen put the SLIC table at the begining of the wasted space. This module usually named oem.bin because of /oem command used with cbrom to compress the bogus module. In actuality, no compression is done because the garbage data is so random that if compressed, size will get larger then uncompressed, so CBROM leaves it uncompressed. And it MUST be not compressed for you to calculate offset and for RSDT/XSDT tables to acess the SLIC table.
So onces you make this oem.bin file you need to insert it in place where ACPITBL lived. To make this file you can use SLICFIX 070515 tool.

There are two ways to insert oem.bin, one by release/insert method that takes time. Or by adding oem.bin to bios.bin, then find it with a hexeditor and copy/paste over ACPITBL.BIN space. You want to paste over a copy of original bios so that there are no two copies of oem.bin. Remember to extract ACPITBL.BIN first. If you plan on using a hexeditor for this, you need to study the layout of modules. They all start with a header and end with a 00 or a checksum in some ASUS bioses. This way you know what you must copy/paste.

After this you can edit the ACPITBL.BIN and insert into bios.bin

Hope this answered few questions.

EDIT. To calculate the correct real address to SLIC, you simply find the offset of SLICv in bios.bin, it will be infront of oem.bin, and knowing that offset 00 of bios.bin in hexeditor matches FFFC0000 in RAM for 256kb bios, you add the offset of SLICv to it. Thats how to get it.

Thank you for the help(copy and pasted it into my little diary of bios modding :) ) I will obviously be re-reading that a few times. Right now my minds a bit scrambled but I know after runningit through a few tiimes the picure will become clearer. The help is more then appreciated!!!

ifndef

edit: oh and yes you did clear up some stuff for me... I'm not as scrambled as before, starting to get the whole picture :). Its one thing to just follow directions
i.e. open cmd prompt type "cbrom xxxx.bin /isa dell.bin" and yor done and it another to know where that came from and why.
