@ Bonalizaa

Petar and Shay_g both modded the above BIOS on 10 July 2008. On 11 July 2008 I replied with the following post:

@ Petar and Shay_g

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 BIOS F6.

I tried updating using all three of your modded BIOS's but with no luck.
In all three cases, after the BIOS was flashed, the checksum of your modded BIOS was rejected and reverted back to the original Gigabyte BIOS.

This is not a fault by you guys. I think that there must be a checksum within the new BIOS, this is checked upon restart and if there is any difference, then the old BIOS is restored. (This must have been what happened to Solracna's board). The boards are not bricked, they just reject the new BIOS.

I guess that the only way around this would be to find the checksum within the new BIOS and modify that once the SLIC table has been added.

Anyway, thanks for all your hard work, it has been much appreciated.

The BIOS may or may not work, I have not been able to get the modded BIOS to stick therefore I cannot say if Vista will be activated or not. If you can find a way to make the BIOS stick and not get rejected on reboot then please let us know.

Hi guys,

After reading whats required to modify a bios with another slic table other than its own, I have come to the realisation that I don't think I could do it. Hex editing is somewhat beyond my abilities. So I would forever be in whoevers debt who would be kind enough to modify the following bios for me information is as follows. Please use an ASUS slic if that is at all possible.

- Motherboard Gigabyte GA-MA 790X -DS4
- Bios Revision - F5C
- Bios Link - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2695

Naturally I will report back the results if anyone is kind enough to oblige :)

Did I mention my eternal gratitude as well? :P

Thanks heaps

Rory

Dont mod this bios! It has a bug with AHCI-Drives, they disappear after the bios-flash!(just read it in a user forum).

Instead it would be great if you could mod the 1102 beta bios from post #11050

Slice= ??? Whoever deals with this Mobo in OEM the most I guess, I have no idea:confused::p
Also where is the guide for activating this, do I need anything extra?
OEM disk, RTM, Retail of Vista Ultimate?

Basically I need to know what I need to do this right (besides flashing which I already know)

Also is there a way to dual flash to where I can get XP Pro on this?
Is this safer way to pass WGA in the future or is the same risk and hassle as the software mod bios hack?

Also why is the file uploaded at box.net? Is it possible to uploaded somewhere else where you don't need to register? PM to email??

I'll thank you in advance for (trying to) teaching this n00b:p!

I'll report ASAP on result.

ok now. firs off all thnx for the help. this motherboard has ami bios, but it is something differend. Becose when coder gived me the bios ling i downloaded and flashed, but on reboot i got checksum error (black screen and beeping system speaker. reflashed the original - works fine. tried to find where is the misstake but all night work is worthless. I tried to code myself but nothing. 1b module gets replaced by the tutorials but slill no boot. This bios stores in nvram, boot block is not reflashed it is for restoration. Boot block reads AMIBOOT.ROM from floppy and flashes it but on reboot again no luck. Sollution? install Windows XP corp and block address in hosts file of genuine server. If anyone is going to buy this board and try to mod the bios for slic then DONT. Believe in me that doesnt worth of your nerves:)

Dont mod this bios! It has a bug with AHCI-Drives, they disappear after the bios-flash!(just read it in a user forum).

Instead it would be great if you could mod the 1102 beta bios from post #11050

thanks!!!

Oh sorry didnt even realise.

Let me just make some checks because upon checking the BIOS on the PC..

Its R02-A1 so I don't really think this R01_c1 is an upgrade as such.

And as for Acer I can't find any bios for the Aspire L100 desktop anywhere on their FTP. :( Thanks for trying though Fzeven

-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: ABIT IS7-G
-Bios revision: v24 (3/30/05)
-Bios Type: AWARD
-Bios Link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AN1C0QGV

Dear Modder,

I am using an ABIT IS7-G motherboard (i865PE), the board has an onboard Silicon Image 3112 SATA RAID controller.

As it is a fairly old motherboard, the newest BIOS version provided by ABIT was in 2005 (v24). Defaultly embedded within is an outdated Silicon Image RAID BIOS (v4.2.12), not the latest Silicon Image RAID controller BIOS version (v4.2.84) released in 2007.

Following closely to online tutorials, I have successfully integrated this newest Silicon Image RAID controller BIOS (v4.2.84) bin into the ABIT IS7-G BIOS (v24) bin. I will greatly appreciate if you can help me add a SLIC table into my updated BIOS bin.

I have archived all the relevant files into an RAR and uploaded into my Megaupload space, link provided above. Within my archive I have provided:

1) The original and unaltered MB BIOS and RAID BIOS:

If working from here, will require CBROM215 to mod the BIOS - by releasing the old RAID BIOS followed by integrating the new RAID BIOS. This followed by adding a SLIC table.

2) My successfully updated MB BIOS (with new RAID BIOS integrated).

If working from here, since this is my processed MB BIOS with RAID BIOS already updated, from hereon only addition of SLIC table is requested.

Please feel free to work from either state that you feel comfortable.

I have tried integrating the new Silicon Image RAID BIOS directly into a SLIC'ed IS7-G BIOS previously shared by China4Ever. Unfortunately this approach does not work as this integrating step seem to modify the added SLIC table (and nullify the Activitated status of an installed Windows Vista). The right sequence may be to 1st integrate the new SATA BIOS, followed by addition of SLIC table.

I would like to reiterate my appreciation on any help you can offer to my unique situation. Thank you in advance for your precious time!

Kenshiro

Got my motherboards today.
Installed and tested Vista, works great and activated, many thanks!!!

Will post later about XP

One question: Would it be safe to use Face Wizard with this modifed bios or is the new code written in free areas that Face Wizard would use?

Cheers
Al

How did you try to flash it?
Have done a few before that worked flawless, modded it the same way.

I flash in dos using the award bios flash utility. I believe the parameters below are what I use. I'm not at home where they are written down, but (off the top of my head) I believe this is what I type at the prompt:

AWD890 A78XA718.XXX /py /sn /cc /cd /cp /cks /r

The utility starts up, but then it stops, and just sits there.
I agree with you about them working flawlessly previously, because everyone you have done for me before has worked without a hitch.

Maby you can try a other revision of the flash tool.
Or try this remod, same slic, appreciate you're feedback.

Please, help me mod this already Mac-modded bios (for Hackintosh on P45 chips).
I've already tried to do it by myself using AMI_SLIC3_20080419. Everything went well (2 green squares), but when I flash with Asus EZ Flash 2 I get an "invalid boot block error".

Motherboard Manufacter And Model : Asus P5Q3 Deluxe
BIOS Version : 1103
BIOS Type : AMI
Bios SLIC : HP
Bios Link : P5Q3_MOD_1103_BiTRiP.zip (http://dl.free.fr/q2vl1Aw3d/P5Q3_MOD_1103_BiTRiP.zip)

Flash it from DOS with afudos like this: afudos /i<biosname> /pbnc /n

I realize this was originally requested by someone else and posted over 4 months ago, but I didn't see any feedback. Just wanted to say that I tried it out on an old A7V880 of mine and it worked great.
