Hello. I've searched but found nothing or older version. I am requesting for a mod using ASUS SLIC
- Model: MSI Wind U100 laptop
- BIOS: AMI
- Version: 1.05
Bios Link: http://download1.msi.com.tw/files/downloads/bos_exe/N011_105.zip
Bios Page: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=135&prod_no=1474
The BIOS already has a SLIC table in it but it's for MSI_NB MEGABOOK, and I couldn't find any oem certificate for it. That's why I'm requesting for it to be changed to ASUS SLIC instead, if possible. Thanks in advance

Hy folks,
I need a little advice & help if possible - big thanks in advance!
It's about an Acer Extensa 5220
I flashed THIS (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=30120&postcount=10312) modded BIOS from Fzeven together with THAT (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=30134&postcount=10321) modded wph file using the Acer Flash program for Windows!
I just replaced the original rom & wph Files in the BIOS folder with the modified ones and ran the Flash program in Vista....
Then I did a clean install selecting Ultimate during install and leaving serial empty.
I used an ACER cert file from a rar file with 39 other certs.
"slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\ACER.xrm-ms"
Then I tried six different Vista Ultimate keys like this:
"SLMGR.VBS -ipk 6F2D7-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
and checked for activation using "SLMGR.VBS -dlv"
UAC disabled of course
cmd opened with "run as admin"
Vista installed with Ultimate selected
checkbox during Install "register online" disabled
Clean Vista Version "6.0.6000 (Vista Retail)" without mods
None of the Keys where able to activate Vista Ultimate and I am pretty much stuck right now... Any help & comments greatly appreciated!!!
Again - thanks for helping me out! :o
and sorry for my english :( ;)

Can someone mod this latest beta bios for the EP35-DS3L? It fixes the Vcore resetting issue and there are no mods out for it yet. Thanks in advance.

@ shay_g, you have posted an Award bios SCARSONE's bios is an AMI one.
Have you tried using ACPIScope reading BIOS information to see if SLIC is accessible and its fully mapped?
Well thank You for the reply!
I assumed the Bios and WPH file I have linked to would be functional as both of them have been modified by Fzeven and reported as working by Schimanski in THIS (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=30177&postcount=10339) post...
I don't know how to use ACPIScope to see if SLIC is mapped...
Has anyone else suggestions where I might went wrong?
Thanks again for help and suggestions - much appreciated!!!
I dare to attach my initial post again:
Hy folks,
I need a little advice & help if possible - big thanks in advance!

The boot blocks on both modded and unmodded bios are exatcly the same compared in HexWorkshop.
This bioses are ususaly flashed withh afudos.
I think that there should be afudos on asus's site from where you downloaded the bios.

the problem is that i cant use the floppy...the bios is 2mb, i tried to use the caldera dos cd iso image ...but i cant read the bios files, coz the tomato cd driver doesnt recognize the jmicron ide controller. i also tried an external usb cd drive ...with no success.
i tried do make a bootable usb key with the hp utility...but i get a boot error.
any other way to flash the bios since the "slic-ed" bios can't be read from ezflash?

A SLIC BIOS for this board was requested last month by Solracna, a modded one was done by Petar, but Solracna suffered a BIOS failure when using it.
Now Petar did an excellent BIOS for another Gigabyte board that I tested successfully and reported back on last week.
If Petar could have another go at it, or if someone else could then I would be very grateful.

You got my mod pretty quick :D I pulled it because the other mod worked for somebody and I did not want a chance to brick your board. As with every flash n untested mod there is that chance. The other mod is different from one I did, its actually the compressed ISA module that has the special code with SLIC table that does the job. Just a correction. The mod I did is called SSV3 with oem7 having same size as org ACPITBL.BIN module keeping othe sensitive modules in their original places (credit Yen).
Since you've confirmed it works, I will put it back up for others.
Thanks guys.

Yeah! LoL! I can't explain why tekken has confirmed his ISA2 mod. A OEM7 mod will always work if the board isn't bricked at first reboot:D
A ISA mod is more safe, but doesn't work at all boards.
Maybe tekken is running a softmod as well.
This is not the only case which gave different results.;)
IMO: here: OEM7 works, ISA2: NOT!

Any news on the mod for regular ASUS P5E3?
Hi guys,
I heard it's not so easy to modify this bios as the SLIC and RSDT are fragmented inside by many parts (or something like that)...
But maybe one more try? Or do i have to go to the softmode anyway? Well, also can be the option, just please let me know.

Try this (ASUS_FLASH for XP & ASUS for Vista)
http://www.box.net/shared/g0zaq9f0gw
Yes there is a few modules scattered in this one!
Flash with the usual command:
AFUDOS_2.32.exe /iP5E3-ASUS-1002.ROM /pbnc /n
You may need to rename the ROM file to a shorter name. Please flash from DOS via cd/usb mem stick. Using a Windows flasher will probably brick the board!
Fingers crossed this will work, no errors when added SLIC etc.

Odd i only see one RDST with the _ASUS_Notebook entry?
I have tried to re-edit the SLIC entry ,(even from unmodded bios file), but i keep getting "Un-editable Module!!" error:confused:
Maybe a more experienced modder will be able to edit this for you, as when i try to replace the 1B module it refuses to let me:(. I don't want to risk bricking your motherboard.
I have seen a ASUS Slic mod for the Premium/WiFi version but i dont think this is the same bios as yours.
Sorry I couldn't help on this occasion.
I even tried the ASUS-FC easy patcher but that refused to edit it. As i see this Bios has a FC module within it.

Flash as per normal /pbnc /n etc. I really hope this dont brick your board, but i have double checked and all checks out ok, but as i dont have this board to test it for you, it is upto you to take the risk. I just hope the ASUS crashproof kicks in if it fails.
You can see if a more experienced modder can either check my version or do a new mod for you. Or use a softmod until then if you only got a few days left until vista nags.
Many thanks to @FlagMax, I was using MMtool , never thought to use AMIMMWIN.exe, last time i used that it caused my pc to reset.

I am new with AMI, but I think you forgot to edit oemid/table in XSDT after RSDT. I don't know what affect it does but thats what I've seen. Did you simply over wrote incomplete SLIC in 1B module? Now he can see how its mapped in EVEREST, but even better to dump it with hwdirect or acpiscope. For it to work, it needs to show SLIC under ACPI with correct OEMid and OEM TABLE id in EVEREST plus we need to look at memory of SLIC to make sure its 100% identical to whats in file.

This has a FC module and the way I have usually edited Ami Bios's are without this module there. The AutoAMI-FC-ASUS bios patcher wont mod it as i tried that to see if it would help.
My ASUS P5L1394 was a pain to edit too, FC mod in that as well and nothing would do a proper edit, it works but i wouldnt release it for anyone as i can live with its strange quirks, it maybe the board but sometimes it just refuses to boot and the odd time searches for the floppy/CD with a bios on, somedays it is faultless.

flagmax, I tried this bios on my EVGA 630i board just now. It flashes just fine with AWD833 NF77V16.BIN /cc/cd/cp/py/sn/f/r, but even after clearing the CMOS, the board still posts "CMOS checksum error - Defaults loaded". This is the same result as many other modded bioses I've tried in the past (except those that bricked the board, but I can recover it with a hot flash from a second board I bought just for this ). Also, the last attempt to to flash this board I made in February, so maybe there's a newer/better AWDxxx.exe available. If you have any suggestions, I am very interested. Thanks.

Here the ACPI SLIC.BIN
I am using VistaLoaderV.2.1.3 right now. Does that affect the bin file that I just dumped?
Yes it does. The .bin file you uploaded contains the Asus SLIC. If I may ask, how do you know your unmodded BIOS contains the MSI_NB MEGABOOK SLIC? I respectfully do not mean to question your intellegence but rather an attempt to gather as much information as possible to help you diagnose as to why you are not being able to activate using the MSI certificate.

No offense taken :) After installation of Vista ultimate, I used everest to look at the SLIC table.
I uninstalled the VistaLoader and took another dump (attached). I hope it reflects now the correct info.

Mx
Thanks for trying!
Are you using the correct PID key for your Vista version?
I think so... Softmode was working fine...
I can create dump from my bios, what software i should use?

You have a very interesting SLIC table. As you suspected, you do indeed have a SLIC table with the OEM ID and OEM table ID of MSI_NBMEGABOOK BUT the public key and marker is actually for a MEDIONMEDIONAG SLIC. Hopefully someone is modding your BIOS as we speak. In the mean time, if you wish, try installing the Medion certificate. I doubt it will work but hey, its worth a try. I am very curious as to the other elements of your unmodded BIOS. I would be very grateful if you could install ACPIScope. After installing ACPIScope, go to "File" then "Load ACPI Information". Choose "From BIOS" and give it few seconds to load the information. Go to "File" again and choose "Save As". Save it with the default .ats extension and upload it. Thank you in advance if you choose to do so.
Hey modders, you guys have to check out Tulisan's unmodded BIOS SLIC table dump. Have you guys seen anything like it before?

That's interesting indeed since there's a new UMPC too being rolled out by Medion which is Akoya Mini. If I'm not mistaken, it's the same as the new MSI Wind which I have. In fact, I think it's a rebadged MSI, or vise versa. There's also another rebadged UMPC being sold in the UK, it's the Advent UMPC, which is also a rebadged of MSI Wind.
I'll try to install the Medion cert and see if it will work. I'll also install ACPIScope and attach here the info you want. Thanks for taking interest in this BIOS. I'm sure a lot of people will benefit from this since MSI Wind is now being sold like hotcakes, at least here in Asia.

Thanks in advance,
MotoKiume.
hi motokiume,
i made for you modded bios you can try this or wait for Petar:

slic=asus

to Petar:
you can have a look in my modded bios before you try to mod again
To shay_g
Thanks for doing a modified BIOS
I only ordered this motherboard at the beginning of the week and it has still not arrived.
I do not expect to get it until tomorrow or maybe at the beginning of next week.
I will test once the motherboard is connected.
To Petar
If you get the chance, could you at least have a look at shay_g's modded BIOS and give it your approval.
Your SLIC BIOS for my other Gigabyte motherboard See here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=30317&postcount=10411) worked perfectly last week and and I would welcome your input.
Thanks once again to shay_g and Petar.

Here you go, ASUS SLIC as requested.
http://www.box.net/shared/fya9m41s08
Please give feedback.
You will need AFUDOS as it was not in the original file, use the one that came with your board or download from Asus's website.
May need to rename to a shorter filename.
AFUDOS /iP5GDC-ASUS-DELUXE-1012.002.rom /pbnc /n (or shorter filename if the long one dont work).
As there was no FC Module in this one im sure it will work. But as always there is a risk of a bricked motherboard, although i think this one has that crashfree system?
The file is the actual rom file, no need to extract etc. Added ASUS_FLASH (SLP 1.0) if you wanted to use XP as well.

The motherboard arrived this morning, I will fit it tonight.
You said that the two BIOS mods are the same, yet the md5 hashes of the two BIOS's are different.
Would you recommend one over the other or doesn't it matter?
Thanks in advance,

Hi you good men.
Have 2 boards of this type P4C800-E-Deluxe running here.
Modded one of them awhile back with the 1024 beta1 modded bios and all went real well with flashing and Vista activated without any problems.
Today I decided to do the same for the other. Simply cant figure out why but no matter what I try I just cant make it work for this board. The flashing itselv runs as supposed but doesnt boot afterwards. Been hot flashing over and over trying different stuff a hundred times :)
Therefore my request for you is this:
Could you please try and do a mod for the older bios rev 1023 for me to try?

Bios rev.: 1023

Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 BIOS F6.
I tried updating using all three of your modded BIOS's but with no luck.
In all three cases, after the BIOS was flashed, the checksum of your modded BIOS was rejected and reverted back to the original Gigabyte BIOS.
This is not a fault by you guys. I think that there must be a checksum within the new BIOS, this is checked upon restart and if there is any difference, then the old BIOS is restored. (This must have been what happened to Solracna's board). The boards are not bricked, they just reject the new BIOS.
I guess that the only way around this would be to find the checksum within the new BIOS and modify that once the SLIC table has been added.
Anyway, thanks for all your hard work, it has been much appreciated.

DO NOT USE ASUS UPDATE from within windows in a 64 bit system.. it can destroy your bios due to the fact of using 32 bit code within a 64 bit system, writing to the bios, can write corrupted blocks. its a real risk.
USE AFUDOS FROM A USB FLASH KEY DRIVE OR FLOPPY ONLY!! make sure YOU ARE USING THE VERY LATEST VERSION OF AFUDOS!!

I have an MSI K8N NEO V2.0 H - MS-7030 V3.0 motherboard (W7030NMS) with BIOS version 5.4 already installed. I just downloaded the SLIC modded BIOS ----> "MSI K8N NEO (MS-7030)_W7030NMS_SLIC.210". I'm ASSuming that the last numbers ".210" is the version of the BIOS??? I just downloaded version 5.4 from MSI and it's ending with a .540. So I'm assuming my motherboard already has the latest available BIOS and the modded version is an older BIOS.
I'd like to keep the newest version if possible so I'm providing a link to a new unmodded BIOS for someone to mod when they have the time.
MSI K8N NEO V2.0(MS-7030) W7030NMS version 5.40 (http://www.turbomalibu.com/history/W7030NMS.540)

I've been looking the Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DS5 BIOS F6. bios's checksum.
Both files the original and the modded one have the same 8bit chechksum=00.
What is cousing the checksum problem, I cant say.
Maybe both chips needs to be flashed at the same time.
Prior to flashing, the PC checked the checksum of the new BIOS file and in each time it came up with a different figure. If I remember correctly, the only time it said checksum=00 was with the original F6 BIOS.

Bios loaded great and Vista activated with the Asus bios.
However, I didnt see ASUS_FLASH in the normal string areas for XP. Did you miss that part of my post? I have tried every dmi app i have to write a string for XP and had no success. I was needing both added so ither Vista or XP will activate as i plan a dual boot.
I needed the Abit bios done the same way. I needed Hewlett-Packard added for XP and Abit slic for Vista. The Abit slp for XP isnt a big issue as a dmi app will write the string.

I've added the string in valid address range inside System bios. So it should work. DMI does not always work. But I'm really not familiar with slp1 oem. You tried to make oem XP cd with asus bios file and it did not work?

Hi. My first post here. I have a Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS4, found an already modded BIOS so dont need to request any I guess.
Will Gigabytes built in flash utility "Q-Flash" work with these modded bioses? Also, IF I by some reason brick my board will the Dual Bios function recover my board?

Technically the 2nd bios should kick in automatically if the first one fails, however you best check the bios to make sure it set to autorecover to other bios on a flash failure. My old G/Byte board the dual-bios feature was set as off by default - very odd!
Q-Flash seems to work, but if the modder has said to use the Awdflash or Amiflash program with /xyz type commands it will be best to use that instead of Q-Flash. Please dont use the windows flasher as that shafted two of my Gigabyte boards and that was with its own unmoddied bios, it somehow downloaded a bios for another model and killed itself!
If the bios you have found is not the latest, providing you dont need any of the newest features then that bios should be perfectly ok for your needs. But if you need the latest bios for say a new processor or other requirement then it will be best to request a mod for the latest bios version.
My bios in my 2nd PC's G/Byte is 4 versions lower but as i not intending to update it i dont need the latest version.
Hope all goes well. Remember flashing any board, with a modded or unmodded bios can be a risk.
Mx

Thank you the reply. I only have access to a USB floppy drive, will that work IF I must use the provided flash-util?
There is one later BIOS than the one posted, or two in fact but both are BETA and I´d rsther use a stable one.
Would never ever use @BIOS, it sucks, have seen so many bricks from that one
And I have never seen a option in BIOS for turning on or off the autorecover function, where can I find it?

yeah that @bios is the worst offender.
On my G/Byte i used the Q-Flash feature it did work, but now i always prefer to use the Award/Ami flashers as they seem to do a far better job without any problems (but as usual there is that element of risk).
If the bios can fit on a floppy along with the flashing program and the bootable files then use your floppy drive, if not it maybe better to create a bootable CD. Q-Flash does work, it just sometimes dont update all the bios areas if they are not needed, a Award/Amiflash with the /xyz type commands do a full flash.
Give Q-Flash a try, im sure it will update, plus if the 2nd bios kicks in you can reflash using the bios's internal system to try again.
Mx
Regarding BETA bios's yes i always if possible use a lower stable bios providing it meets my systems requirements.
EDIT: The Dual-Bios feature is available on the Main Bios screen usually a F1 to enter Q-Flash, you should hopefully see a menulist of Use backup-bios, flash from backup-to main etc it may have changed on these later boards and its not changeable or viewable. My dualbios board is a old BX2000 series but still works.

I decided to mod you bios. From what I've learned, your bios has 2 sensitive modules.
20. GV3 08A2Ch(34.54K) 027B1h(9.92K) AGESACPU.ROM
...
24. MINIT 0F56Fh(61.36K) 0F596h(61.40K) MEMINIT.BIN
Because of these, I had to minimize shifting of modules. On top of that your bios is packed with lots of stuff with remaining compress code space of 30A6h(12.16K) which is NOT enough for another ACPITBL.BIN of 040A1h(16.16K) in size. So I had to improvise. After editing the ACPITBL.BIN that already had an empty SLIC table, it grew a little larger. Because of this, I was forced to steal space from EPA logo. So, I had to remove the logo for increased ACPITBL and inserted a spacer to leave all other modules in their original offsets. Removing logo should not have any affects besides not seeing the "Energy star."

This might be more info then you asked for but I want to share what I did. This mod should work IMHO. With your current bios, do you see SLIC under ACPI in Everest? If yes, then its mapped but empty.
Maybe other modders can comment.
