Hmm.
Try with this two mods, and if SLIC is not present in Everest then I give up.
Maybe some of the other moders like Fzeven or BigErnM will be able to help.

Note. Rename the moded files to X48DD320.BIN before flashing and flash with the same comand.

Your board may be dificult to mod, but it is the best one I've ever seen for Over Clocking.
It has all the posible features, settings, timings, voltage controls, e.t.c. and it even has 5 banks in wich you can save 5 deferent bios setups.

Nice to haer that it worked...:D
It seemed to risky for me to do the manual mod by extracting, releasing and reordering the modules.
But that's why the more expirienced moders are, to help the requesters and to tech as the les expirienced how to do it.

ASUS Crosshair 1103

There have been a few different versions of this BIOS posted over the last 300 pages. Threre has been success with some and you have then produced later ones after. On the off-chance that you may have had feedback via PM that I am not aware about, which SLIC BIOS for the ASUS Crosshair would you recommend me to use?

Thanks in advance,

@Dark_Angle, I've been trying to mod your bios, but I havent been able to extract it.
Do the folowing to see if anything can be done:
Install and open hwdirect, go to memory dump. Enter fff00000 without "h" and size 100000 without "h", press dump.
Right click into window, select all, right click again, copy. Paste as new file into winhex. (Open winhex and press Shift + insert key) Make sure ASCII-hex is selected. Save file and upload, please!
To get Hwdirect to run under 64 bit, press F8 at startup and disable driver enforcement. This will last for one session only and allows Hwdirect to run.

Note. The same goes for @uruk007.

DELL bios can not be open ! No tool to open and edit this type of BIOS.

I dont think that we will lose something, except some litle time while making the memory dump and trying to do a mod.
And we will also gain some more knoledge.
There are tools that can decompress dell phoenix bioses, like delldeco.exe and phoedeco.exe.

@ Fzeven,

ASUS Crosshair 1103

There have been a few different versions of this BIOS posted over the last 300 pages. Threre has been success with some and you have then produced later ones after. On the off-chance that you may have had feedback via PM that I am not aware about, which SLIC BIOS for the ASUS Crosshair would you recommend me to use?

Thanks in advance,
MK.

This is last working one that I know of, I think that I modded some other one's but no confirmation on the working status.

http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=22608&postcount=6786

I suggest to use awdflash & clear cmos after flash.

@tripex, your bios needs to be modded manualy, but at the moment i have litle glitch and cant finish the mod.
I've asked some questios on some other threads to the more expirienced modders, so I will be able to finish it succesifuly.

I just wanted to say that I tested out the mod that Fzeven created for Chevelle in 2007 for the HP-Compaq NX9600. It works flawless. Sadly I don't have a HP oem disk, only a Dell one. I just replaced the dell.xrm-ms with your compaq one and presto - instant activation when re-installed. It also activated when i used your file to register the pre-existing installation, but i wanted to verify that it was working without the vista-loader. Awsome job man.

I have annother computer with the following specs:

Abit IS7-V2 Motherboard
Phoenix-Award Bios v6.00PG

I'm wondering if anything can be done with this.

Preferable SLIC would be DELL since thats the only disc i have right now.

If its not too much to ask, I haven't been able to locate the latest bios either, if you feel like going easter egg hunting! :P

Cheers,
Dylan

Hi all,

I was hoping to have the following BIOS modded please:

Motherboard manufacturer and model: DFI UT X48-T2R
BIOS revision: X48 AD320
BIOS TYPE: Award BIOS 8Mbit flash memory
BIOS Link: http://eu.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/X48AD320.exe
DFI RECOMMENDED BIOS FLASH TOOL: Winflash Ver. 1.92
REQ SLIC: HP, Lenovo, Asus,... anything really

Thank you SOOOOOOO much for all the time and effort so many ppl put in here!! Its really such a buzz to see a bunch of ppl help each other so well! MANY MANY THANKS to the few but HUGELY PRODUCTIVE modders that seem to make 95% of all the mods here too!!!
Try this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/123382193/X48AD320.rar
SLIC = ASUS

Flash from pure DOS booted from Floppy, USB Stick or CD/DVD.
Flash like this:
AWDFLASH X48AD320.BIN /cks/sn/py/cc/cd/cp/ld/qi/WB/ch

or run flash.bat

Note. The link to the bios you gave is a DOS flash utility, and it is much safer to flash from DOS.

Edit. This bios is not for DFI UT X48-T2R, but for DFI LT X48-T2R

Hi Petar!

Thanks so much for your time!!! I feel like such an idiot though....
The link I posted is NOT for the LANPARTY UT X48-T2R...

Its for the LANPARTY LT X48-T2R and it looks like a completely different BIOS...

I would hate for someone to flash their board thinking it was correct AND IT's ALL MY FAULT!!! SO Sorry!! Maybe the Mods can edit the posts so no one will get screwed...? I'm sure it will work but with the LT board ;)

I almost dare not ask after being such a dooofus,... but,...
the correct LANPARTY UT X48-T2R BIOS is here: http://eu.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/X48CD402.zip
and if you could,... again,... :o:o

The bios cant be extracted from the exe file you have linked to.

Lets hopr that this Dell bios can be modded, couse latest Dell bioses cant be opend with the known tools.

I've been trying to open the bioses, I've even managed to extract the bios from the exe using the hiden writeromfile comand.
The only think left to do is to try to decompress the bios with delldeco.exe, but I cant find it anywhere.

If somebody has it, can you please provide a download link PLS??

I need a Floppy to be able to extract the bios from the file you provided, but I dont have one.
Maybe you or somebody else can do it and upload the files from the floppy.
If not, make a dump and lets hope that this bios can be decompresed.

Yes...the 1405 that I'm using is confirmed...if you need me to upload it or send the one im currently using (SLPKEY and SLPMARKER)...PM me....I'm not sure what is going on with 1502...but I do know..that I flashed to 1502 (Stock) and had blank screen upon reboot...and the only way to fix it..was to 'remove' the power from the back of the computer..then remove the CMOS battery and move the jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3 (CLRTC) for about 10 seconds...replace the CMOS battery and Power Cord and reboot into BIO's...'exit and save'

I also think this BIO's should be removed from the "not tested" because I think its already caused someone some issues..

M2N-SLI Deluxe – rev.1502 ;Award
SLIC = ASUS, The bios had very little space left to add SLIC so the EPA logo had to be cut out.

OK the floppy just gave us the other file again which i cant extract from or decompile, so ill just paste this dump instead!

http://rapidshare.com/files/123435197/GX240-DUMP.rar.html

One note i had to make the dump into a winhex backup file since the non-paid version doesnt alow you to save files over 200kb. Hopefully you have the full version. It will allow you to open the backup file only with the full version.

super..YEN...I was thinking of that..but didn't want to load the programs necessary to convert the images...I've got some spare BIOS chips coming..so I can play more...but as you said..if it ain't broke..dont fix it..and unless your needing 1502 because of a phenomenon CPU..then i bet the 'black' logo will work if it indeed is calling and thats why a 'checksum' error occurred earlier with someone.

Couse in this case the Boot Block seems to be working well, and the recovery should work.

But before you try the recovery procedures try clearing the CMOS or try holding down the tab key while booting.
If you need more asistance on the recovering [rocedures feel free to PM me.

In the meantime, heres annother computer in my house:

Model: Compaq EVO D510 CMT
BIOS Type: Compaq
BIOS Version: 686O2 v2.20
BIOS Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard Company

Has alot more ACPI entries than normal, so I'm assuming I should copy the bios somehow instead of posting the generic flash files. Any way to do this?

No luck on the DUMP i posted Petar?
You must to have done something wrong.
The file should be 1024KB or 1MB in size.
The one you provided was 517KB.
If WinHex doesnt works for you, try using HexWorkshop, it has much more options then WinHex.

If WinHex doesnt works for you, try using HexWorkshop, it has much more options then WinHex.

Hex Workshop DEMO works great for outputting hex files. WinHex doesn't allow you to save hex files, only hex backups. I used Hex Workshop to create a 1024kb hex file. I RARed it and uploaded for your viewing pleasure!

1. I dont know if there is anyone who had flashed this bios mod, although till now it has been downloaded 4 times and nobody has complained.
If there was any bricked board, the complaints arive in a second.
2. No, it doesnt meter if you uninstall VL after or before the flash.
3. Yes you can downgrade to XP without any need to reflash with the original bios.
4. Here are some keys:
http://rapidshare.com/files/107580564/Vista_Keys.txt
You can use any Ultimate key, the manufacturer does not meter.

After a week of deliberation whether to flash or not! I'm happy to report the flash was successful and my Vista is now activated:D

Many thanks petar;)

I went against your advice and flashed bios in windows using winphlash, i know the general consensus is it's more safer to flash in DOS but people do put the fear of god in you using winphlash and hey I like to live on the edge! and if you follow theses steps it's quite safe:

-before flashing reboot
-make sure power cord is plugged and battery is full just in case there is a power cut!
-close all running apps i.e anti-virus,firewall etc...
-run winphlash and follow prompt!

Note: I only took the risk of flashing via winphlash because if things did go pear shaped I did have "phoenix crisis recovery" boot disk and worse case scenerio if my laptop was bricked, I could get replacement bios chip!

again..this isn't the best advice..unless one has no choice...remember in the windows enviroment..there are always going to be some 'services' running in the background that you won't be able to shut down...one slight burp or mis-tick of any running service could ruin your day....but glad to see you taking the plunge and activating your Vista.

Firstly, your mod of version 3.10 was perfect, Slic present, and vista activated ok.

The quiet fan problem, was apparently introduced in v 2.20, and from then on this function of the bios is not working. I have found an alternative v3.10A bios that has this function enabled, would you be kind enough to mod this also for me, so that I can have the latest bios, but also with the quiet fan and slic table enabled?
All details, same as above mod please

Many thanks for your hard work.

Guys over 3 weeks ago I flashed the bios above twice by accident believing it would enhance my abilities of my mainboard to handle some hardware upgrade. It wasn't necessary but it has rendered my XP Media Center Sony VGCRB60G's Sigma Tel onboard audio useless with a code 10 error. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling and performing other procedures to get the audio to run but to no avail.

I was hoping one of you guys could take the above bios posted by larat and reverse transcode it back to XP Media Center friendly. According to Petar, by removing the Vista codes/strings might be all that is needed for my audio to function again in XP Media Center. Petar identified the modification to be Asus and if FZeven or somebody else is capable of reverse transcoding it and making a flash available for me to use it would much be appreciated.
Thank You Guys.

I found this download link.
It is dirctly from sony.jp:
English translated version:
http://www.google.com/translate?u=ht...F8&sl=ja&tl=en (http://www.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fvcl.vaio.sony.co.jp%2Fdow nload%2FSP-014003-01.html&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=ja&tl=en)

Japanise version:
http://vcl.vaio.sony.co.jp/download/SP-014003-01.html

Note. you can only download the bios for the japanise version.
As you can see from the page, the bios is for a computer model one series newer than yours, but the file name of the bios is the same.

If you download the bios from the japanise link, unpack it and Hex Compare the file BiosUpdate.bio to the one that Larat provided you with, you can see that it is exactly the same (not eve one byte of a deference), not modded at all.
So asking Larat for the original bios is obsolute, couse it is already the original bios that he has provided.
You may want to try to flash the bios using the original flash tool provided by the japanise site.
Couse I dont know which tool did you used to flash it.
Take note before you flash couse this is not the original bios for your board, but since you flashed with it once I live it for you to decide.

Instal and open ACPI Scope.
Go to "File"--->"Load ACPI information"--->"from BIOS".
Save it as bios.ats and upload please.

Your bios seems to have a comlete SLIC in it but I'm interested before I mod it to see if the SLIC is locked and to see the strings in the RSDT table

I've double checked the mod, it seems that everything is OK.
Where did you got the installation DVD ?
Or did you make it your self ?
If you have got the DVD from the manufacturer, than maybe some of the more expirienced moders like Fzeven, Yen or BigErnM can take a look at your bios.

It killed my mobo. Everytime I turn the machine on, there's a long and a short beep, and a short beep with a three second interval until I turn the machine off. In addition to this, the monitor stays completely black. What can I do to recover this, or is my only option to send the machine for maintenance? The machine's model is Acer Aspire M5620, if that helps any.

Which file did you put to the flash card ?
As I can understand from the *xls file in the archive the 2MB file is for recovering after a bad flash.
Create bootable Floppy, acces it and select to see the hiden and system files from the folder options.
Delete or rename the file config.sys if present.
Couse we need DOS with no additional programs that are loaded, which could interfere with the operation of the BIOS flash application.
Rename the bios to amiboot.rom and copy it to the Floppy.
Create a new text file and name it autoexec.txt
Open it and write the folowing text inside:
@echo off
AFU408 amiboot.rom /pbnc /n

Save it and rename it to autoexec.bat
Copy it to the Floppy.
Copy the flash tool AFU408.EXE from the archive to the Floppy.
Remove the battery and the power cord.
Pres and hold the power button, and while holding plug the power cord.
If no floppy access occurs press and hold Ctrl-Home to force update.
When there is no more activity, wait for a while and restart the computer.

Note. This version of AFU408 has the comand line as I described.
You can see the available switches from DOS if you type AFU408 /?

I almost dare not ask after being such a dooofus,... but,...
the correct LANPARTY UT X48-T2R BIOS is here: http://eu.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/X48CD402.zip
and if you could,... again,... :o

You can activate Vista x64 with the cert you have, althougn without a SLIC in your bios you cant.
You need a mod for your bios so you have a SLIC and a maching cert, which you alredy have.

It's a desktop computer, so there's no battery to remove. It has no floppy drive either, and since the monitor stays black, I can't see what's happening. Can the recovery process still be done somehow?

Hello all,

I'm a beginner here and i have a few simple questions.

1.There's 2 ways to use Vista: using an activation tools (not work for me), or mod his own BIOS, is that alright? Is the BIOS way is working at 100%? It's probably a stupid question, but i don't understand exactly how it work... Sorry, i'm not english, so perhaps i didn't understand everything at the moment.

Found[2.My second question is on how to know our bios? I've a notebook, an HP nc8230 and i can't find anything about his bios at the moment. But i will!]

This is really simple question as you can see, but i'm too noob to really understand if my vista will work if i mod my bios or not.

Thanks and have a nice day guys.:D

Just an useful hint for beginner like me: Start>Run>Regedit, then find this key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System.
Then, go to SystemBiosVersion, and click modify. ===> Bios version is here.

Hope it will be helpful.

Your bios is stored on a chip on your board, not in the registry.
You cant modify your bios thru the registry.
You can see the bios version and type by installing software like Everest or the way you describe it
If you want a bios mod for your computer post a download link to the bios for your computer.
