hi yen

here I have the different tables from my ACPI. I wonder why it always change bewtween "I" and "E" under "OEM Table ID"

I have two "Multiple APIC" is that ok? And they also change "E" and "I" from each other.

But I think, that is that what you already knows, because you are the specialist on mooding...

Yes you can.

cheers, but now i have another problem!

2 motherboards which have both done the same thing after flashing the bios with ones modified on this site!

Both were MSI, one being the K9A2 Platinum and the other the K9A2 CF.

Now, when you download the bios from the website there are two files contained within it, the bios file itself and a exe program called AFUD412.

I created a boot disk and extracted the files to a cdrw disc. I then booted up and chose boot with cdrom support, then i navigated to the cd and typed in as follows:

afud412 a7388ams.150

I hit enter and then it does its thing, wiping the previous bios, checking the new one, flashing the new one etc etc and it completes successfully.

But upon rebooting my pc it just hangs there flashing the cdrom light a couple of times and thats it!!

I used the tools provided by msi and the modified bios from here which i have no problem with because ive flashed my other mainboards with no problems, so it seems to be an msi thing or have i done something wrong??

In either case my second msi board is dead and i cant get it to do the emergency reflash either so i am now thinking never ever buy another board from msi right now!

And calm........

Hi, babyboy.

I took a look into the support page for that model:

http://www.benq.co.th/products/joybook/?product=1073&page=downloads&dtype=M

finding no files released other than the user manual you made a link to.

Any new entry should be on that page if anything including a bios update newly released, like other models.

If no downloadable update found you need to extract & save the current, working bios from your laptop (a Phoenix one?, judged from the description on the manual).

No as i followed MSI instructions which state that no switches are needed.
That was my second mistake as the first was buying a board from them in the first place!
You can guess i wont be buying another board from them ever again and i also can not recommend anyone else doing the same!
I have had no other problems reflashing other makes such as ASUS which also use the AMI bios, but two MSI boards fail one after the other, i make that a 100% fail rate!

Had the same thing with a MSI P6N SLI no switches used mobo bricked, with switches everything was fine.
It is no garuntee when the switches are used that a badflash/bios never can happen, but the risk is a bit lower.

I've checked you're dump and de slp1.0 string is at the right place.
You can find it with hwdirect at FE840.
Did you made you're own sony oem XP install cd?

I only have WINXP MCE (SONY OEM) install CD.

I don't know why I can't activation ???

Thank you very much.

Had the same thing with a MSI P6N SLI no switches used mobo bricked, with switches everything was fine.
It is no garuntee when the switches are used that a badflash/bios never can happen, but the risk is a bit lower.

I flashed WITH the switches /pbnc /n and my K9A2 Platinum board is bricked. I cannot recover either. Looks like this is a hard one but need experts help :)

I've got a remod if you are interested, it's not MSI but Asus.

I know this probably sounds weird but i am glad others are having the same problem as this means it is not me!

MSI have gone back to the dark ages with there bios flashing technique especially since it reports the flashing a success yet both of my boards are bricked!
I have never had a problem with other makes and i have flashed a number of times so i know what i am doing, which leads me to believe MSI have got a major problem on there hands!

The number represent the oem files you need to make the right sony oem cd.
In my opinion it's better to make a new sony oem disk.
There is no easy way to shift the string around, so it's trail & error.
But if you really want to I can try it, but be warned there is a very real risk to brick it.

Works perfectly :). I cannot thank you enough for this! Vista x64 Ultimate activated.

NOTE: Used AFUDOS utility 4.04 from http://www.tyan.com/tech/matrix_flashUtility.aspx and flashed WITHOUT /pbnc /n parameters. DO NOT use MSI afudos utility since it rewrites the boot block and will loose the ability to recover if you have a bad flash. In this case Fzeven's bios worked perfectly.

I burned it to bios, but my XP PRO did not boot up normally, but It went there where the blue object goes from left to right, went about 6 times from left to right and then booted again, and then I had to put in blue screen Normally and then booted and put Normally and and...

Hi
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, because there is no reaction on my modding request.

Another thing is, that I found a modded file on the internet. I loaded it up to:
http://rapidshare.com/files/105401144/DG2WS602C.ROM.html

Could anyone check if this is a correct one ?

Just to remember what Mobo it was for :

Works perfectly :). I cannot thank you enough for this! Vista x64 Ultimate activated.

NOTE: Used AFUDOS utility 4.04 from http://www.tyan.com/tech/matrix_flashUtility.aspx and flashed WITHOUT /pbnc /n parameters. DO NOT use MSI afudos utility since it rewrites the boot block and will loose the ability to recover if you have a bad flash. In this case Fzeven's bios worked perfectly.

Ahhh thanks for letting me know the correct way of doing it :D

Shame MSI Instructs you to use a flash utility that bricks the board pretty much everytime. Very bad!

Can't find any hint for a slic - table ...

I forgot to mention ... I actually have the Paradox - Hack running to keep my Vista activated b4 installing SP1 - Maybe id this the cause that Everest won't find any bios - Informations concerning SLIC ?

My Plan was/Is - to install the Original - OEM - Hack and remove the Emulation later .... Was this kinda naive ?

Your bios looks like it has an ACER SLIC already in it. You can check with Everest to see if it is active. If it is then use the ACER file and follow the instructions from here: http://rapidshare.com/files/102503707/CERTS.zip.html

Thanks for answer!

It fails. Watch these pictures please:

I used paradox crack to activate Vista pre SP1 and Vst.X-Free.AO_2.1.2.1.2 to activate Sp1. In the last case Vista Sp1 was active just for some hours.

Try the bios in the post above this one, SLIC = ACER. It looks like you may have a softmod like the Paradox crack present as well.

What makes you say that? I got a Vanilla install made from the leaked links from Microsoft and also got Vista with SP1 that I got from a torrent.

Those screenshots were taken before I tried to do anything activation wise.

I've looked all over my system for a ROYAL.SYS file to see if there is a softmod on there but no dice..

dormix
04-07-2008, 02:33 AM
Try this SLIC = ACER, you will have to remove the paradox crack and Vst.X-Free.AO_2.1.2.1.2 to get it to work.

http://rapidshare.com/files/105461687/CLB-132.ROM.html

Sorry I don't Know how to use it. Can you explain how to or can you Link a page for instructions?
Thanks!

I've just tried to use the BIOS rom and tried to activate but no dice.. :(

When you say its got ACER SLIC... What did it have before then? Just asking so I can look for changes via EVEREST per say...

The.Watcher
04-07-2008, 02:54 AM
It had an ACER SLIC before, but the one I substituted for it which is the usual ACER slic has a few characters that are different between it and the one that came with your bios, I thought it might be why your install wasn't activating, be sure you are using the right product key as well. I said that about the softmod because it had XSDT memory address as emulated. Most Vista torrents these days come with built in activation cracks, not the paradox one, but newer cracks that load before vista. Does your computer show some characters onscreen after post and before the Vista loading screen?

Yuh, I used the ACER cert with this key...

6F2D7-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX

& no my computer doesnt show any BIOS emulation when booting up I'm afraid.

If I was to format and reload with the VISTA made from these links.. These links are good as far as I'm concerned even though they will be pre SP1...

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/XXXXXXXXXXXX

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/XXXXXXXXX

http://msft-dnl.digitalrivercontent.net/XXXXXXXXXX

That would wipe out any cracks, or hacks correct? Just incase maybe the torrent I got was dodgy as you say.

Its almost as if ACER are the ones causing the emulation that you can see in the XSDT....

The.Watcher
04-07-2008, 03:20 AM
It should, although there maybe something else going on. Fzeven will be around to help you as I will be very busy for the next couple of weeks. The main problem may be that the built-in .exe and .bat files in the Bios archive want to flash the .wph file and not the .rom file. I can't get the Phoenix Bios editor to open the .wph file only the .rom file. Here is an alternate method, I have modified both the .wph and .rom files along with the .exe files in this archive SLIC = ACER:

http://rapidshare.com/files/105469510/v1.32.zip.html

Thanks very much for the help thus far. But trying to flash the BIOS from that file above. I get a "Mobile ID check error" and the flashing cant continue past there...

The.Watcher

Alright well, I think the key is making sure there are absolutely no softmods present using VOATKtools or formatting and reinstalling a clean version of Vista. I found a way to get Phoenix BIOS editor to open the .wph file. I modded both .rom and .wph here with SLIC = ACER

http://rapidshare.com/files/105473816/v1.32.zip.html

here is an alternate mod SLIC = ACER

http://rapidshare.com/files/105474635/v1.32.zip.html

Cant flash any of those unfortunately as I keep getting the "Mobile ID check error" when trying to flash it. :(

Could the Emulation that Everest is picking up be caused by

System BIOS shadowed

Video BIOS shadowed

Had a look in my BIOS settings as limited as they are. But these cant be configured as they're not there.

Are you flashing in DOS mode using phlash16 using this command:
"phlash16 /x /s /c /mode=3 /BBL /pn CLB-132.WPH" ?

No I was flashing in Windows and I also tried DOS but ran the .bat instead...

I'm just in the midst of a reformat and reinstall then I'll try the

"phlash16 /x /s /c /mode=3 /BBL /pn CLB-132.WPH"

Hope by the time I've finished reinstalling then, maybe other members such as Fzeven could have a look at this problem as you kindly suggested. If they ever get to see this of coz. ;) Many thanks:)

Are you flashing in DOS mode using phlash16 using this command:
"phlash16 /x /s /c /mode=3 /BBL /pn CLB-132.WPH" ? Those could be causing the emulation seen in Everest, and maybe memory address as emulated is a common thing with unmodded Bioses without softmods, I have just run into it a lot with people that have softmods present. Maybe someone else with different bios tools can get the .wph file to open properly and mod it for you.

I prompt this comand but it warns this message:
"CAN'T FLASH IF MEMORY MANAGER( e.g. EMM386 ) present"
"PRESS ANY KEY TO EXIT"

then i had executed the file CLB-132.EXE located in Winflash32 folder and flashed the BIOS. It warned that the BIOS was older than mine but I went on. At reboot Vista is not activated. Thanks anyway.

hello everybody, i need your help to downgrade p5k-se bios to 0401, with any other bios the temps in my e2140 get to high even under stock clock, with those bioses i get the same temps that i use to get with a 3.0ghz overclock with my old one.

I tried a lot of things yet, but none of them worked, i need to find a way to make asus update recognize the bios file.

Note: in the bios 0901 and 0704 its says "all os" and at 0401 says "dos"

hehe, another note: p5k-se dont accept pata dvd drives to make use of asus crashfree bios 3, and i have one:(.

Hi Fzeven

I flashed the bios of the board and checked it with everest (ultimatge verion :-) )

In the ACPI - Section there is no SLIC - table but ...

an I@b:Unknown table with funny chracters in the detail section.

So the ACPI Section looks like:

APIC
DSDT
FACP
FACS

I@b:Unknown ... Details with funny (chinese ?) Characters

RSDPTR
RSDT

Seems to me, like ther went something wrong and its useless to try Vista on it ..

What do you think

Kind Regards .... digitara
