Make a dump with acpiscope & upload.

If you replace the original "ota116.rom" by the modded one "ota116_slic.rom"
Rename it first, then you can flash it the original way.
You have to import the certificate (acer.xrm-ms) into vista.
Then use a slp2.0 key to activate.

hi Fzeven,

i refer to your post #6282

i managed to flash the bios of my notebook PC with the one modded by you.

i successfully imported the acer certificate into vista and issued the command via C:\ prompt to insert the product key (viz. slmgr.vbs -ipk 6F2D7.......)

however, when i checked under the "system" tab of vista, it still shows that i have 30 days left to activate (meaning the procedures listed above were unsuccessful)

could you please help me?

thanks.

If I am running an OEM Dell installation of x64 and Everest reports:

Product ID 89587-OEM-7332132-00031
Product Key 6F2D7-2PCG6-YQQTB-FWK9V-932CC
Product Activation (WPA) Not Required

Doesn't that mean I already have the Cert. and license in my system? Where/how do I check if not Everest?
Thanks for your time and patience!

Bump?

Everest:

ACPI Signature SLIC
Table Description Software Licensing Description Table
Memory Address AFFB6EC2h
Table Length 374 bytes
OEM ID DELL
OEM Table ID M07
Creator ID ASL

Again, given all this, do I just need the modded BIOS and do nothing more?

Try some other keys.
You can upload also a other acpiscope dump, with SLIC RSDT XSDT.

You must select the slic table to see the oem id & oem table id of the slic table.
Now you have to import the certificate & use a slp2.0 key.

Try some other keys.
You can upload also a other acpiscope dump, with SLIC RSDT XSDT.

as you suggested i did try some OEM keys from keznews. all of these keys together with the bios that you modded are not able to activate vista ultimate on my acer notebook PC (model 4520)

Dear, Fzeven

Those bellow two gigabyte bios (you mod it before for me with ASUS SLIC), but now after SP1. I am having problem with both for S3 sleep and vista get not activated any more.

So can you please re-mod both with the latest method so that the problem with sp1 and S3 can be solved ( I heard that there is new technique to overcome this problem)

Really I am not familiar with bios moding that is why I am troubling you every time.

Is there any gigabyte SLIC, if it is available can you mod both with gigabyte SLIC, otherwise ASUS SLIC

Here are latest non-beta bios for both boards

1. GA-P35-DQ6 rev 1.0

2. GA-G31MX-S2

Original Bios

URL: http://asia.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-g31mx-s2_f4.exe

Can you upload it somewhere else rather than rapidshare ( I cannot download from there)

Try running this command these commands as admin. slmgr.vbs -xpr, this will tell you the activation status of your current license, then you can run slmgr.vbs -dlv and it will give you more information.

Thanks BibErnM! Here is the result:

I'm trying to determine if I can simply apply the modded BIOS. I don't know if my install is softmod, paradox, or what.
I installed it from an ISO Dell OEM disk and it has ran, updated, and validated ever since. I don't know if the ISO was modded before I got it....What type of crack would that be, if any? As it appears that I have the cert. and lic. for a Dell, can I confidently flash the modded BIOS and not risk losing my current state? Sorry to be a PIA, and maybe this is the wrong place to post, but I feel like I'm missing something here in my understanding. I'm just trying to get my working system through SP1! (haven't tried yet) Thanks for your time :D

Have you tried to activate?, there is slic present, maby it isn't blended in.
So can you take a look with Everest to see if the slic is blended in, if so can you make a dump with acpiscope & upload.

It looks like your license status is ok. I don't know if you even need a modded bios, SP1 might install just fine they way things are now. If it doesn't you can always flash the modded bios afterwards and reimport the OEM certificate. You can also run VOATK tools and it can tell you if any of the softmods are installed on your system.

It is NOT recommended to use asusupdate to flash.
There are a few models that will be killed if you flash with asusupdate.

Hello, I am not sure if somebody did not upload something usefull for me (maybe tommiy) so I ask: I have this mobo with latest stable F1.2 BIOS and Vista x64. I used vista activator and so far it works, but I think BIOS mod would be better and more permanent, what do you think? Which one should I use for my mobo. Those files gamarker.bin and gapubkeymarker.bin from tommiy will work? Thanks

If you are satisfied with how your system works you can leave it alone. I'm not sure if the softmod you are using is compatible with SP1 or not. The softmod poses less threat to your motherboard, but is more likely to be disabled in the long run versus having a modded BIOS. If you want a modded bios you can try to mod it yourself using the files from tommiy, or you can flash the bios in this post from China4ever, it has a Dell SLIC. I have provided an ASUS SLIC as well. If you would like a different SLIC you can request it.

Here is a Super Static v1 mod, rather than the v3 mods you were trying before, SLIC = ASUS. If there are still problems with this you may want to use the latest version of Afudos.
Afudos: http://rapidshare.com/files/101070624/AFUDOS236_ES.zip.html

Bios: http://rapidshare.com/files/102106164/G3M2131A.zip.html

I have tried flashing with afudos that came with the package along with your newly v1 modded bios and no go. I then recovered and then tried with new afudos and result is the same.

I'm beginning to think the bios for this mobo is unmoddable.

Thanks for your time and efforts.

The bios has an HP/Compaq SLIC already in it, although I can't tell if it is active, you could check with Everest and see if one shows up, or you might want to try just importing the HP certificate and activating with the appropriate key first, if that doesn't work here are modded bioses which should have an active SLIC = HP/Compaq.
There were 2 bios files in there, I modded both with SLIC = HP/Compaq. The one ending in F25.WPH is the new bios version F25, the other file ending in F21.WPH is the previous version F21.

http://rapidshare.com/files/102153845/sp38252.exe.html

if those don't work here are alternate mods, just the bios files: Both SLIC = HP/Compaq
F25: http://rapidshare.com/files/102155442/30CDF25.WPH.html
F21: http://rapidshare.com/files/102155502/30CDF21.WPH.html

and if neither of those work here is a 3rd method SLIC = HP/Compaq

F25: http://rapidshare.com/files/102157616/30CDF25.WPH.html

Sorry I haven't responded till now but I think the reason it's giving this error is because the original acpi compressed(?) in bios is 0273Eh and the one in the bios file you sent me is 02757h so all that is needed to be done is to change the 5 to a 3 and the last 7 to an E and it should work flawlessly hopefully..

Here they are, slic = Asus, there is no matching gigabyte certificate for the slic.

GA-P35-DQ6 rev 1.0 : http://www.box.net/shared/c18uy30u8k

GA-G31MX-S2 : http://www.box.net/shared/c8p41wbwok

Let me know if this fixing things for you.

dear, fzeven

Great job it is working fine for the GA-P35-DQ6, no problem at all with SP1 and S3, the only thing CPU fan become noisy because it is running always at 3000 rpm, i just change the control to voltage control rather than automatic and it is O.K.

For the GA-G31MX-S2, i did not flash it because (my mistake) the SLIC should be ACER as my system is originally ACER.

So again sorry can you mod it for ACER (keeping in view the problem of Sp1 and S3)

Try
Slic = Dell
http://rapidshare.com/files/101935546/G71M3B27_slic_Dell.zip.html

I applied the modded bios but after that, computer can't boot. I tried all bios recovery methods (putting amiboot.rom on a floppy, holding ctrl-home while turning on computer, ...) with no success. After putting bios recovery floppy and turning on computer, it continuously seeks floppy and beeps. Please help me.

It seems that my fd controller was the problem. I replaced it and I recovered my bios.

But there is a higher risc of briking it.
And i have some doubt about it if its really gonna work.
If you want to take the risk i'm happy to do so.

If you think you can do it then go for it, If it works it'd be a big improvement
over having to press F1 to finishing booting my computer everytime I restart it..

Worked great! as far as I can tell the only issue with the bios update, is the wireless keboard fails to work after the boot manager takes over, untill the logon screen shows up. Also the key from the COA sticker didn't work I had to use the one that was installed. It didn't bring back the laptop but at least I saved something :) Working on sp1 now, I will post an update with a screenshot later. Thanks a bunch! added the new screenshot, everything working perfect. an A+ Bios Mod:)

Newbi I can't find a recent bios of my mobo : P5B-E plus. It's hard to navigate in the topic (quite a few pages ;-) )
version available : 504 in http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/02/21/sla-20-supported-bioses-for-instant-windows-vista-oem-activation/
Thanks Niko

but the last Asus version is : 627 with some bugfixs
1. Fix CPU ratio will not reset after load BIOS default
2. Enable support for N/2 Ratio option
3. Support new CPUs. Please refer to our website at: http://support.asus.com.tw/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx
4. Update CPU temperature low limit form 1.1V to 0.85V
5. Finetune Q-Fan control code
6. Finetune CPU temperature detection algorithm
7. Enhance memory compatibility under FSB1333 mode
8. Add new CPU uCode to support new processors
9. Revise SLP 2.0 rule
10. Support SATA Hot Plug function under AHCI mode
11. Fix after downgrade CPU ratio, the Conroe L frequency not correct under ASUSCPU
12. Enhance USB device compatibility

Or perhaps I can upgrade the bios after validation ?

Thanks for your help !
