I used MMTool to check the BIOS and found the same problem encountered by skinnydude a while back.
Basically the latest BIOSes from MSI have a RomHole image, which appears to take up address loctaion of the SLIC table (0000FFF0h)(don't ask me for any further info as I'm no expert)
I opened V1.5 modded BIOS in MMTool and extracted the RomHole image (modded by skinnydude), I then opened the V1.6 original BIOS and replaced its RomHole image with the saved image from V1.5, and saved the BIOS.
VISTA SP1 NOW ACTIVATED:D
MSI K9AGM2-FIH V1.6 modded BIOS can be found here:-
http://rapidshare.com/files/99750922/A7327AMS.160_SLIC.html
Let me know how it goes acidrock

Hi Fzeven, could you please mod this BIOS for me?
Motherboard Manufacturer And Model : Asus Crosshair
Bios Version : 0905beta
Bios Type : Award
Slic Type: Asus
Vista/XP
Bios Link = http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...r/0905beta.zip
The modded bios found here http://www.box.net/shared/8nl8dc4o48 did not work for me. Everest shows OEM ID as "_ASUS_No" and the OEM TABLE ID field is missing
Thanks
Did you flashed the other bios with awdflash, if not try that first.
If that doesnt help try this one, slic = Asus, some feedback would be awesome.:)

Have you tried to flash it like this: Phlash16 / x / s / mode = 3 bios.rom
Otherwise you can try this.
http://www.box.net/shared/nvqddajkko
Thanks FZEVEN! I will post feedback later today. My friend is coming over with the laptop.
Phlash16 / x / s / mode = 3 bios.rom did't work with the previous flash. I will try again later. I hope it works :)
Again, thank you for always reaching out :)

Thank you!!! :)
It is better to flash it with afudos.
On some mobo's you can use Ez-flash.
But on other you can get a bootblock error and it refuses to flash.
And in the worst case it flashes and kills the mobo.

There are a few guides on the forum.
Yes you replace the original by the modded one, and then flash the bios.
If you have a copy of Everest you can check if the SLIC table appear after the flash.
Look under Mainboard->ACPI.
Then you have to import the certificate and enter a SLP2.0 key to activate Vista.

i'm running xp at the moment and i have loads of stuff to back up before i install vista.
but could i flash the bios with the modded one entill i find the time to back up my data and install vista ??. ie, would my xp continue working ok with the modded bios.
Yes you can, but if you experience a bad mod/flash then for safety it is better to backup important stuff first.

- Bios SLIC : ASUS

Hey Can someone have a go at modding this for me, i've had no luck.
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model ASUS P5GC-MX/1333
-Bios revision 0310
-Bios Type AMI
-Bios Link: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5GC-MX-1333/P5GC-MX-ASUS-1333-0310.zip
I think it may have the same issue as previous revisions of this bios.
It's like the old FC mod but they changed RSA1 to 1ASR?
Anyway, see what you can do, thanks

Hi!
I've been using the P.rd..x hack for over a year without any major difficulties. And now I would like to update my system to SP1.
Do I have to uninstall this hack before modding? If yes, how to do that?

Heloo everybody, i just joined your wonderfull forum.
First of all, i'm sorry for every mistake i will made in spelling, english is not my native language.
I really love the solution of modding bios , to activate Vista, unfortunatley i have not been able to do so on my own, all the documentation i ever found uses more than one approach, and not very detailed explanations.
Second of all, if anyone can make the ASUS F3SV bios , to be able to activate Vista Ultimate, i thank you in advance.
Finally, if there is a thread somewhere on this forum with explanations on this method, i will be verry happy.
I have sufficient experience in computers and service, i have an universal EEPROM programmer, so busted/useless bios after modding is not a problem for me. I just write the original and try again :) . I'm really curious how this method works, but since i don't have enough programming experience , it's a little hard in the begining.

Does this mean I will not need the Vista Loader at all? I used the Asus Key whatever the common one is that I see with all the downloads are out there, and the file you are referring too I assume is the xrm file which gets loaded? So it sounds to me like the Loader will not be needed at all? If that is the case the installation becomes much easier!

There are a lot of sp1 activations.
I have the vista loader 2.1.2 and the xrm and the proper code, problem was the loader lockup at boot. If this is the solution, I was curious if it works for SP1 as well? Because the Vista Loader 2.1.2 does indeed on a few Dell laptops I tried it on, with SP1.
Anyways, lucky for me I am doing this on a totally clean HD, or I would end up killing myself trying to get it to work, after 8 hours last night trying to get Vista to freaking boot, I found this forum, and am very happy I did.
I guess what I was looking for was a solid Yes/No SP1 will work if this BIOS works correctly?

Not that I am unthankful or hateful in anyway it is F-in cool as hell that this forum exists, what I would like to know though is exactly how do you have enough time to work on these files so quickly? I mean seriously, I looked up the directions here on how to extract the ACPI data from the bios and then manipulate it to contain the proper SLIC information, and it takes what about ten minutes per file, where do you find the time for this, especially since this forum updats about once a minute.
Kudos to you guys for doing such a great job, and being on the ball and responding quickly!
