Hi there. I've been wanting to install Vista on my computer, a Dell Dimension 4600 2.66 GHz, but I'm having trouble determining my motherboard and other necessary information to continue. I've uploaded an Everest log in the report.zip file that might contain the information, but honestly, I can't figure where any of this info is. I know my BIOS is the Phoenix A12 revision created on 8/26/04, but past that, I really don't know much else. Can anyone help me?

I've done some more testing and can confirm that the P32 is not working. I believe the RSDT checksum being bad is the cause. I downgraded my CPU and flashed P31, that activated fine. I updated back to P32 and Vista deactivates but doesn't nag, it's in the 30 day countdown mode again. I've put my E8400 back in, since E8400 running Linux is better than E6600 running Vista.

The BIOS linked seems to be modded correctly, a SLIC table shows up, but the bad checksum in the RSDT has Vista whining. If anyone can simply update the checksum, I think that is all that is needed.

Hello again after a long time...

First, apologies for not reporting back on two different Bios Mods. This happened because the two people i requested that for pulled back when i actually had the Bios'es available for them- they got scared and didnt wan't to flash anymore.
for you, modders, this is really not nice. I am aware of that. I'm sorry.

Second, i would yet again like to request another Bios-Mod which became necessary through SP1, which disabled some Emulator. I did look through the Forums and couldn't locate this Bios. So i am hoping that you could possibly...

Tried with EZBios and gives me "boot block in file is not valid".

Tried with Asus Update 7.13.04 from Vista and flash correctly.

With Everest I can see the _ASUS_ string but I still haven't reinstalled Vista yet, since I'm waiting for the official Vista+SP1 cd from MSDN.

Thanks for the effort but the bios did not work, after flashing I was getting strange symbols appearing in the bios post and system failled to boot... Went back to the vanilla F10 for Rev 2.0 of this board and PC back running...

Is it possible that this F10 bios is not for the Revision 2.0 board????

I've modded this one exactly the same as the previous, that was confirmed working.
You see a slic table, if the slic oem id & oem table id are the same as rsdt oem id & oem id table, then it must activate.
Its easy to say not working make another one, if it is not working it is not always a bad mod, user make plenty of mistakes why it not activates.

my client and me, we are just trying to flash but awdflash 1.17 refuses to take the bios, it just sits there and says "please wait".
No error, no progress either...
I have a list of switches here, but none is for forcing the flash-process. or, if you don't know, does anyone here know how that is done?

hi to all on this forum! i'm new here.
so, in previous version of this thread modder by nickname China4Ever made a mod of BIOS for Intel D915GAV(L) motherboard and asked to post reply if it is working! i have not found any replyes for it so tryed it and decieded to pos my reply here.
after reflashind BIOD with moded one first stage of system boot worked fine (i mean BIOS boot), so i can enter setup edit parameters (accept "Discard changes and exit" when i press it system just hangs), but when i'm trying to boot from any of my drive system hangs: screen goes blank when not using "silent boot", when "silent boot" is on the intel logo apears and nothing boots, + to all symptoms: the system speker permanently prodeces "pi-pi-pi..." sound (sorry for such a poor explanation of the sound from the system case :rolleyes: English is not my motherlanguage)
is there any problem with modded BIOS image or am I making something wrong???
P.S. to boot my PC i reflashed my MB with bios recovery floppy from intel, if anyone interesting.

Hi, I successfully flashed my friend's bios with this version, and Everest says there is an SLIC table. However, after a fresh install of Vista SP1 RTM, I checked the system information and Vista was not activated. I used the same process as I did with this T42 (I found a modded bios for it) and it worked for Vista RTM, no SP1.

Does it not work for my friend's computer because of SP1 or because I did something wrong?

Any ideas are appreciated!

doyou know the right switches for programming bios with awdflash?
my client and me, we are just trying to flash but awdflash 1.17 refuses to take the bios, it just sits there and says "please wait".
No error, no progress either...
I have a list of switches here, but none is for forcing the flash-process. or, if you don't know, does anyone here know how that is done?

Try a different version of awdflash, i think /F is the force switch.

You have imported the certificate & used a proper key?
Are the oem id & oem table id of the slic table _ASUS_ and Notebook, are they the same as oemid & oem table id of the RSDT entry?
If so try some different keys.

My Friend just called me telling me that he managed to flash his P5V-VM-DH with AWDFLASH 1.17 and the "/QI" switch set, which means AWDFLASH uses the bios ID String to identify the Bios rather then using the CRC Checksum.
The "/F" Switch means that AWDFLASH uses the in-chip- flashing routine rather then the programs own DOS Based Routine. It is not absolutely a Force switch, but it dos a very similar job though since the inbuild routine does not verify the bios by crc checksum (that is just a guess).

Previously I have upgraded BIOS to 6.0 too and so BIOS installation wrote it can't flash the same or newer version. But, there is a solution:
this .exe application to flash BIOS has uncompressed into more files, so, run it, while it writes about the same BIOS, don't close it and instead of it, look into ...\Documents and Settings\login\Local Settings\Temp and find the most recent directory, it should be like RarSFX* and all the directory copy to safer location. And then: in phlash.ini, change in the beginning "Advanced=0" to "Advanced=1" and run winphlash.exe, load s10gm600.rom as a new BIOS image and press Advanced Settings and in the Flags tab, uncheck "Flash only if BIOS version is newer than system" and it will work.

Then I have used Toshiba certificate from oembios.net together with Asus OEM key and I'm happy.

Can anyone mod BIOS for Intel D915GAV motherboard (by the way 100% the same as Intel D915GAG)??? Because the one made by China4Ever is not working as I described in my post (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=19900&postcount=5119). :(

P.S. For better description of the problem need to add that it is possible to flash my bios with moded one by China4Ever using iflash.exe utility, but when I tryed to flash it from floppy in "BIOS Recovry Mode" (internal motherboard flasher) nothing happend accept the system bell was ringin 2 times.

You need to check with Everest Ultimate if SLIC is listed in the ACPI Menu table. ;)

No, I have first installed the certificate of Asus and then the Ultimate Key!!! (Have you maybe another Licese and a key for Ultimate!?

update: i already modded my own it wasn't too hard with the right tools.:D

Did that actually work on the GA-EP35-DS3R, or did you mistakenly list the non-EP35 model? You have a link to the BIOS of the previous model, the GA-P35-DS3R (note the absence of the E). The EP35 models have their own new BIOSes and are up to F2 (or F3 beta), not F11.

If the SLIC oem id & oem table are the same as the RSDT oem id & oem table id then you can try some other keys to activate.

i would love to have this new release fixed with a slic entry, the v.1005 that you fixed works fine.. but not with my new cpu's
