if you could use asus slic please
... i look at how to modify a bios but i am not really entirely certain what i am doing so instead of risking bricking it i thought it would better to ask some one that knows more about it ... plus i just waited 2.5 months to get my board back form abit RMA deparment .. they are horible so really dont feel like risking it

Thanks in advance

Yes, #5 gives CMOS checksum error after reboot. I noticed with the original EVGA bios, it also gives checksum error on the first boot, but is fine after the second boot, going into BIOS, saving, then reboot again (#3). With any other bios I tried so far, the checksum error is always there.

#6 - "Warning! INVALID BIOS ROM, ERROR CODE = 51"
#7 - "CMOS checksum error - defaults loaded"

Again, any saves to the bios are lost when the defaults get loaded back in. :(

I haven't visited everest yet because Vista is loaded on a RAID0 array, which I can't enable because it's not the bios default. If it helps to troubleshoot, I can clone it to a single disk, and then get into Vista from there. Let me know.

Also, I'm flashing with awdflash v8.83 from DOS v7.1 setup on a USB thumb drive. This time I did it like this:

awd883 nf77v16.bin /py/sn/cc/cd/cp/f/r

Thanks again! :)

Another one to try, slic = Asus

i wasn't able to use the search function in this forum as "LG" and "Z1" are both just 2 characters long - and obviously i can't make them longer..maybe a brainy admin might consider a clever rule change here.. :(

Phrunt helped me so great last time - so i hope some megabrain will get this fixed also:

Make: LG
Model: Z1
Bios Type: Phoenix
Bios Rev / Download: unknown!

So the problem here is: I found simply NO SINGLE BIOS DOWNLOAD for this model.

If someone here tells me:

- how to read/dump a backup of the exisiting bios to disk (which tool)
- and which tool to use later for flashing

I would be so happy to supply a valid bios file here! :)

Thank you all so much!

Bios revision:2.4
Bios type:AMI
Bios date: 2007-09-26
Bios link:http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=6089&type=bios

And I also have a question - if I get the modded BIOS, can I flash with the MSI BIOS update tool (straight from Windows) or do I have to use some other method? So far I have updated my MB BIOS with that MSI utility 3-4 times and it has worked like a charm.

And finally - what if the flasing process fails or the modded BIOS is flawed? Is exchanging the MB only option or are there some other means to repair the broken BIOS, I mean for a home user? (I know there are some devices that can reflash BIOS but those are costly)

Anyways thanks in advance !

Hi, I am currently using the F8 slic bios, but would like to move on to the F10 release as it contains new code for the latest CPU's if you could please provide a new bios for me.

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R rev 1.X
Asus slic
Bios address http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-p35c-ds3r_f10.exe
Bios type Award

I did see an F10 on the forum but it was for the rev 2 board which is listed as a seperate bios update on Gigabytes site so did not want to risk it. (Mine is a rev 1.0)
Many thanks, the F8 has worked perfectly with Vista 32 bit, so I hope you can find the time to update for me.
Kind regards.

Motherboard: MSI P6N SLI FI

Don't use the updatetool!
You have to flash from dos with afudos with additional switches.
Syntax: afudos /i<biosname> /pbnc /n

Hi, I am currently using the F8 slic bios, but would like to move on to the F10 release as it contains new code for the latest CPU's if you could please provide a new bios for me.

Motherboard is Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R rev 1.X
Asus slic
Bios address http://europe.giga-byte.com/FileList/BIOS/motherboard_bios_ga-p35c-ds3r_f10.exe
Bios type Award

I did see an F10 on the forum but it was for the rev 2 board which is listed as a seperate bios update on Gigabytes site so did not want to risk it. (Mine is a rev 1.0)
Many thanks, the F8 has worked perfectly with Vista 32 bit, so I hope you can find the time to update for me.
Kind regards.

I've just updated a board with this bios, but have hit a roadblock.

Previously, I was using emulation (asus ultimate key), and it went tits up the other day (required activation). I got around that and got it back into a half state (with only the emulation tool by reinstalling the cert), where it's activated but reports it's not genuine (kills aero etc).

I figured the hell with it, and did the bios flash. Same thing.
Tried reinstalling the cert, changed keys, nothing, still reports not genuine.

Made sure the emulation tool is not running.

Everest shows the SLIC module, and reports it's an asus notebook.

I am new to the forum and found it via Google when looking for procedures/tools to modify the bios in the above board with the new bios extensions released by silicon image for the 3114 chipset that implements hardware raid 5. If possible, I would really appreciate someone doing this for me.

Here are the details:

Motherboard: ASUS K8N-E Deluxe
BIOS Revision: Latest Release 1011
BIOS Type: AMI
Motherboard BIOS Link: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock754/K8N-E_DX/K8ne1011.zip

Latest Beta BIOS is here, but I haven't tried it (don't know what it fixed/added). If this is a better one to mod, use the following link:
http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/sock754/K8N-E_DX/1012-007.zip

Latest Silicon Image BIOS Extensions Link:
http://www.siliconimage.com/docs/BIO-003114-x10_5403.zip

Note: I contacted ASUS Tech Support and they in turn contacted the China office and were told that ASUS would NOT be implementing the SI update in their older boards, so software raid 5 is all ASUS planned to support. :(

Thanks in advance for any help you can give,

John

I have the same mb, and would expect it would work fine provided you inserted the certificate in the second installation as you did in the first. The mb bios fix will work for any number of installations, just remember the cert is needed as well. If this is wrong will someone correct me please.
By the way Kyle, I just came off the F8 and on to the F10 to enable the code for the new 45n cpu's. Look a few pages back and you will see it. Worked fine for me.

Greetings:

I would like to have someone modify bios version 3.5 for my MSI K8T Neo 2-F v2.0 (ms-7094), to enable PCI /AGP lock. I know it can be done - there is a PCI /AGP locked version of the version 3.6 bios available on the web. However, the 3.6 bios available from MSI has corrupt firmware for the onboard SATA controller, making it useless. The SATA on the modded bios is corrupt as well. But the Bios version 3.5 works!

Here is the bios I would like modded:

Bios 3.5 FROM the MSI Web site (http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=1850&type=bios)

Payment can be arranged....

Best Regards,

Filesize is too big for my bios. When I try to install it with AWDFLASH, it reports back saying not enough memory. Anyway to make it smaller? There is a about a 260kb gain in size.

Bios size is right, must be something else. ( ram?... )

After going carefully through this forum to learn the 'procedures',
it sure seems a calculated risk if your motherboard does not support
some kind of BIOS back-up.
Then I remembered these little devices that became popular a few years ago..
Saved many enthusiasts (including me) from a bricked mobo for sure, so I decided to see if they still made them. Well, the site is still up ! Though I have no idea if any vendors still carry the "BIOS Savior".

http://www.ioss.com.tw/web/English.html

Before you ask, NO, I don't sell 'em ! Nor am I "spamming' the thread.
Just sharing a thought.

Re : Crosshair v0904 bios mod

Oops ! I just had a closer look at the thread and found what I needed. (A confirmed working mod... There was some indecision on a couple of separate mods working or not).

I previously asked for the above mod today.. I'm going to give this existing tested one a try...

-Modder : Fzeven
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: Asus Crosshair 590sli
-Bios revision: 904
-Bios SLIC: Asus
-Bios Link: http://www.box.net/shared/58os8xdpnd

Sorry for missing this on my first run through ! I searched the thread too.
Go figure.. Anyway I'll report results when I'm done later.

Thanks for all your work guys !
