For a long while, We have been recommending no switches with flash. If the SLIC is liocated to a NVRAM area, additional switches need to be in the flash..

Flashed bios but when rebooted the bios post hangs after detecting the cpu. Next line starts with memory frequency and stops. It shows cpu speed at 1.4 when I have a 2.8. I am waiting for a new bios chip. I tried cmos jumper, removed battery, removed ram except 1 stick and nothing works. Another member here tried the same bios and had the same results. Warning, do not try flashing your bios with this mod because it will brick your MB. This has been confirmed by 3 different setups. That is why they call it testing. Good thing the chips are socketed. This was not my pc and I will never try this on any pc but my own. Sucks bricking a MB when it is not your own.

Flashed bios but when rebooted the bios post hangs after detecting the cpu. Next line starts with memory frequency and stops. It shows cpu speed at 1.4 when I have a 2.8. I am waiting for a new bios chip. I tried cmos jumper, removed battery, removed ram except 1 stick and nothing works. Another member here tried the same bios and had the same results. Warning, do not try flashing your bios with this mod because it will brick your MB. This has been confirmed by 3 different setups. That is why they call it testing. Good thing the chips are socketed. A confirmation for the GA-X48-DS5 GIGABYTE-motherboard_bios_ga-x48-ds5_f7-DELL_SLIC21_DELL_SLP2. Working fine for me, Windows 7 x64 Ultimate activated successfully and load optimized defaults worked. But one strange thing was that the settings that were previously setup were present after the Bios flash which has never happened with any other Bios flashes! The save Bios profiles/settings were lost as they usually are.

The OEM keys in the file do not work with the latest MSDN X15-65922 Windows 7 x64 Ultimate but I did find a working OEM key.

Ok I bricked this board using an ISA mod, and I mean totaly
bricked it just wouldnt recover. I was stuck with
"main bios checksum error recovering from backup bios"
reboot loop. I eventualy unsoldered the bios chips
discarded the main bios chip and soldered backup bios
chip back on in the main bios spot. It worked I flashed
a bunch of times with factory bioses to make sure the
board was working properly and then flashed with this
bios, Windows 7 is now activated.

I couldn't find a premodded bios for the DFI LP DK 790GX-M2RS beta bios dated 7/06/2009 on the site, so I made one using the links, tools, and tutorials found here. Beta bios is modified with HP SLIC 2.1, activates Win7 7600 correctly using orbit30's win7 Loader [using Activate SLIC in place]
update: there is a newer bios I saw while looking up the bios source link, from 8/20/9 that allows for more of the newer 45nm dualcore/tricore procs with a microcode update, I haven't modded or tested the newest one yet, supposedly it allows for higher speeds on the 710/720 and 545/550 cpus.

I have just tried both of these.. and neither work. Can anyone confirm that they actually have an activated ASUS P5N-E SLI with 1403? (and NOT someone who made one for the scene)

This was the 3rd and 4th ones I've tried from this forum and none work. I've even editted one myself and it did not work (which I have successfully done with any other version of my BIOS)

After just performing another successful flash i can now confirm as working:

BIOSTAR TA690G-AM2 / BIOS rev. 828 / ISA-modded with AwardTool 1.22

Link to original BIOS here (http://www.biostar.com.tw/utility/biosdl.php?BID=1093). This is the 828 from 2008, and not the 828 from 2007. (Yes, there were two of them.)


Details:

SLIC2.1 used: DELL FX09AWRD

SLP used: DELL

Mod-Method: ISA @ Default AwardTool 1.22 Settings

CRC32 of BIOS after successful ISA modification with above mentioned SLIC&SLP: 36F4ECB4


Flash Procedure:

1.) Loaded and saved Optimized Defaults in BIOS. (Rev.604 at that time.) Rebooted into DOS via bootable USB stick, then flashed original factory 828 with AWDFLASH.EXE BIOSNAME.BST /py/sn/E and rebooted into BIOS setup.

2.) Loaded and saved Optimized Defaults of 828. Rebooted into DOS again, then flashed ISA-modified 828 with AWDFLASH.EXE BIOSNAME.BST /py/sn/Sb/cc/cd/cp/LD/E and rebooted into BIOS setup.

3.) Loaded and saved Optimized Defaults one more time and rebooted into BIOS setup. Re-customized all parameters, saved the settings and rebooted directly into Windows. Operation=Flawless.

PS: Before this i was using rev. 604 modded with the 0+2 method. This worked fine as well, but since it has already been covered here (i think) it would be moot to repeat everything. The upshot however is that both 604 and 828 seem to be working fine with either ISA or 0+2 so you can pretty much use whichever of the two methods you prefer. Others might work too but i didnt test it.

I have tried SSV3 unsuccessfully - with error message 'EPA module must follow ACPI module'.
Then again unsuccessfully with ISA method - BIOS was modded successfully but after BIOS update computed did not start!

Confirmed this, it is working. Flashed BIOS with Asus EzFlash (Alt+F2 during boot sequence) with the .ROM on a USB pendrive. Installed W7 Ultimate x64 Swedish RTM ISO, activated and everything is working perfectly.

(Well, the driver signing thing is a bitch, but that's got nothing to do with this patch... Can't understand why MS have to make me use test mode in order to use Peerguardian.)

Anyway, this worked perfectly! Thank you Busykid508 (and Jbo for testing, I wouldn't dare to be the first tester :p)!

The mod looks correct. It's probably something to do with your system (Dell cert not installed, nonslp key, leftover bootloader, etc.)

If you upload a RW-Everything report we can help troubleshoot.

If the SLIC is liocated to a NAVRAM area, additional switches need to be in the flash..

Are you sure that you linked to the correct BIOS for your Motherboard ?
If you gave me the wrong BIOS link then it will not work.
Also Be Sure to Flash from DOS NOT WIndows.

You could run AFUWIN and save a copy of your BIOS (Click on Save button) to be sure you have the correct Version for your Motherboard, then upload it somewhere so I can download and modify it.
