The slic is not getting updated. Try making a bootable USB. Put Flashit.exe (http://www.sendspace.com/file/0u3uib) and your bios file onto it, boot from it and type the command:

flashit <biosname.fd>

if slic still remained 2.0 try:

flashit <biosname.fd> /all

The package has 4 different bios files so you have to find out which one is yours. To do so just start the sp45765.exe and check which one is chosen, then just cancel it. Good luck.

1. Because it's assumed that the users do their homework and all they need when they come here is the modded bios file.

You bios contains slic 2.0 and the bios file that you are using for flashing has 2.1 - problem is that slic is not getting updated.

Hm, well i don't know anything else that can be done. You said you are using bootable disk? Is it a CD? Some say that flashing using CD don't work all the time and advise to use USB. Maybe you should try that.

You know you can activate your W7 with this DELL slic also using DELL certificate. But if this is very important to you to have Acer instead then please provide the original bios download link and will try to mod it again.

Just use the 3310 one I did ages ago. I put in the Acer SLIC 2.1 back when impatient whiners didn't want to wait for the proper Acer cert to come out lol.

You know when i saw you talking about mod made by bgage i was surprised that he might've made a mistake and put Dell instead of Acer - he don't make mistakes. But i didn't check his mod, now i did and it's correct - it has been modded with ACER slic 2.1 that's why it matched mine. Now the only explanation that comes on my mind is that there is a lo.der in your system. Is there?

If you have HP Notebook and BIOS SLIC 2.1 but you can't find SLIC 2.1 table in your system after flashing.

The point is how to change your OS SKU from Non-Vista to Vista.

I have gotten hold of a loader 1.7 program and used it to uninstall the loader that was running.

I then successfully used the keyfile and prod-key for acer. Works perfectly fine. Looks correct in the slic dumptool.

I'll go spank myself a bit now for wasting your time on this one. I'm happy that it worked out for me now and that I'm free from loaders and have correct Acer SLIC 2.1, key + prod-key.

To be honest with you i don't really understand what is the problem? Are you trying to say that you can not install W7?
What if you set it to "0", install your W7 and then switch it back to "1"?

Ok, I see now. Well i think you are right - 2 is for W7 but that option is missing. Maybe that EEPROM utility is old or was not updated by mistake? I think you should ask where you got that DVD.

Well, it depends what do you mean by "problem". Will the bios get updated in general? - Yes. Will the slic remain 2.1 if the new bios still has 2.0 - i don't know - 50/50. But you always can mod the new one right? If they don't make any major changes....:)

1 - I mod what's being provided, i don't search for bios download links, so in your case i modded the dump. I don't know if this will work.
2 - well, first I would try using Flashit.exe (http://www.sendspace.com/file/0u3uib) and flash your bios from DOS using command

flashit <biosname.fd>

There was nothing wrong - a lot of times flashing from windows doesn't update the slic. Forget about KALG0X64.fd as it seems to be an older version. Your bios file is KALG0109.fd - the one you used to flash from DOS. If you want A GUI based flashing then download the official bios update and substitute KALG0X64.fd with the modded one - that's it.

The DV7T-1000 bios originally bricked my laptop. Turns out the "auto detect" feature will flash the wrong bios (because there are three in the file). Just FYI, most insyde bios have a secret 'failsafe' to recover from a bad bios flash.

-get the proper .FD file for your notebook, rename it to the first 4 digits and .BIN (ie: 30F3F2C.FD would become 30F3.BIN)
-put newly named bin file on a fat16 or fat32 USB stick, plug it in the notebook
-unplug notebook
-remove battery
-unit should be off, press and hold windows key and B
-plug in AC power while holding those buttons
-turn on notebook, let go of all buttons once LED lights come on
-the notebook will beep every second, as it searches for the .bin file
-if its filename matches your systems motherboard code, it will flash, and reboot
-all is fixed

PS: Sorry if this was mentioned in other forum areas, it saved my *ss today.

Unfortunately this one is not moddable with known method. Also it looks like EFI which as far as i know is not moddable either. I might be wrong.

No, the certificate stays the same. You don't need to apply or update it . Both bioses have the same slic.

You mean the possibility to get slic 2.1? Yeah, you actually can do it the same way as recovery. I assume you know which bios file is yours, so just use the same modded one from that archive cause the problem was not with bios files but with the wrong choice.

then check if slic is updated, if not then try:

hi folks,
i modded my compaq presario c734tu laptop with slic 2.1, which falls under F34 bios category.
all you need to do is download the file (i avoided rapidshare because it simply ***king sucks)
the URL is filebin.ca/mgzbsd/sp41279.zip
if you click the first URL its simple, if second url? then rename the file to sp41279.zip and
then unzip the file with your favourite unzipping tool.
as of now i only included the slic 2.1 marker.
later will have more stuffs.

Hi, I am using Presario C722TU which uses the sp41279 bios as well. The laptop came with original Vista and SLIC 2.0 in bios. I have tried to flash the bios which I download from mgzbsd link above but it still show SLIC 2.0 when I use SLIC DUMP ToolKit to check. I have tried both flashing in windows and dos. Have I missed out anything? Any help will be appreciated.

But be advised that sometimes after flashing the slic might disappear with Toshiba. We don't know why this happens or how to fix this. You are on your own here.

Note sure if it's just something I'm doing, but I get the following error:
"File may not have EC rom!"
Idk but this looks like a bois dump made by a bios dump tool. As far as i know bioses dumped with it not always can be flashed back.

Just go to sony support and re flash even with and older bios and then update to this one... thats why I did last night on my Z

Everest and RW can not show you what this bios file comes with - they show the current situation on your computer. And just because your slic didn't get updated doesn't mean the actual bios file doesn't come with slic 2.1
Try flashing form DOS using Flashit.exe (http://www.sendspace.com/file/0u3uib) with the command: flashit <biosname.fd> /all

BTW which file are you running when actually trying to flash your bios? It should be InsydeFlash.exe

I flashed using the stock Sony flasher by just replacing the .ROM file in place.
