I saw this Chinese article, dated July 31st, for CB-01 to get SLIC 2.1 without flashing the BIOS.

It has all the files and instructions needed. If anyone interested, check it out.

In that post (#185), if I follow the link rapidshare says that the file has
been removed by the uplo*der. Could you provide another link to download
the realtek bios for lenovo 3000 c200? And, once more, altough I know
I'm getting a bit annoying :o Any posibility that you could remove
computrace lojack from this bios?

After flashing with the supposed "14CN94WW" (Rev 94 bios) I can confirm this is NOT the newest bios, but still Revision 59 as linked to previously in this thread :(

May i ask a question?

My TP T400 came with no OS (student edition). RW Everything did not find a SLIC or SLIX table at all. I thought the SLIC is in the bios - therefore the moment i had done a bios update, should the included SLIC 2.0 not have been added to my laptop? Or is there a marker in the BIOS update, that tells the new bios to NOT add a slic, since my PC did not come with a preinstalled OS? In that case, if lenovo releases an official T400 slic2.1 bios update, will i still have to use a modded version each time they update the bios?

Would be thankful for clarification. I'd prefer the official lenovo bios, but if the slic part does not get flashed on my laptop i guess i have no choice. Maybe someone else has a Thinkpad that came with no OS and can clear this up. Thanks.

I've been looking everywhere to see if it would be possible to modify the T61p bios to get rid of the sata 1.5Gbps/s Cap that Lenovo has put in. The T61 uses the ICH8M which is capable of sata 3.0 Gbps/s speed. There are discussions on using baredit and HWDirect to write to the register here:

but it seems that the only way to be able to make it work would be modifying the bios directly.

Please tell me if it would be possible.

I would like to warmly thank you guys (especially the Yen) for the wonderful guide to update BIOS Lenovo.
I threw their attempts to find SLIC Marker old SLIC 2.0 in BIOS my x300, and simply followed the instructions by Yen and added a new SLIC 2.1 (TP-7V). Activate Windows 7 a success. I'm delirious with happiness ...

there are two bios there, both confirmed flash AND activation... if others have the same problems I will remove

I believe he followed your quote to my original post, which had a rapidshare link... i removed it because it wasn't correct, that is obviously the reason you had to do it.
@TBA I will not replace it at my post with the correct bios because that is not my work, it is Yen's. If someone found that link at my post they would assume that it was. The list at the beginning of the thread, however, does have the correct link, as it is a collection from everyone for everyone.

I realize this has been requested before (by a few members) though I have not seen any patched files.
Will someone *Please* modify this bios? I have been using the AMI tool for my other computers but this is a bit out of my league :/ Thank you for your help!

Hi,

I'm not sure why you're unable to activate while others have reported success...

Try this 2.1 SLIC mod (LENOVOTP-6F) with the original 2.0 SLIC disabled and report back (the usual disclaimer applies - try at your risk).

Unfortunately, I don't have a T500 to confirm this but if you still have problem activating, provide a dump of your ACPIs from RW-Everything.

Caution:
6fuj31us.exe for T500 downloaded from Lenovo contains two bioses: 6FET71WW & 7VET71WW.
This mod is for the first one and you must ensure that this is really the bios that's applicable to your T500, before proceeding to flash (Hint: look at your current bios id).

Also if one wants to really use Win7 on this Thinkpad there will be a bit of a problem to get graphics working, as there is NO
driver for Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller

But one copied from Vista works just fine (of course no Aero, but that is expected from 8Mb memory)

I placed this in the list the last time you requested it, alongside the one already there... i saw it on bios.net.cn also ;)... if you will look back a page or two, someone PM me and posted on here that there is a problem with this bios... also, there is the problem that this is only HALF of the 2 in the package. I modded BOTH bios in the package and posted them earlier, only one page back i think. I would like for there to be a COMPLETE bios package available to people with this computer... if you have time, could you look over the one i modded and let me know if you see any problems with it

The problem with that mod and the one you uploaded today is that the original 2.0 SLIC is still active resulting in 2 SLICs in the memory and possibly failed activation for some. I killed the original SLIC and luky was able to activate with this mod. I'll update the other T500 bios (7VET71WW) later and send the url.

Our BIOS module allows no special undetected path into the operating system.
Uncontrolled access to a computer system may allow some BIOS images to be tampered with by an expert.
Attempting to alter the Computrace BIOS module for malicious purposes will not defeat conventional detection as claimed by the authors.
Any alteration to the BIOS module will cause any popular antivirus software to alert the customer.
More importantly, if the BIOS of a computer has been compromised by an attacker,
that machine is exposed to innumerable other vulnerabilities far beyond the scope of the Computrace BIOS module.
The presence of the Computrace module in the BIOS in no way weakens the security of the BIOS.
this is saying that if someone was to use malware on your bios,
it wouldn't matter if you had LoJack or not, thus LoJack does not
open any further possibilities that are not already there


Actually I don't need the SLIC, but I'm trying to get rid of
computrace lojack

IMHO it is very obvious that you have no interest in a SLIC bios... that is what we do here.
Lojack is a security measure to deter THIEVES.
Given that other problems arise by removing LoJack and
the possibility of someone using such a bios to STEAL computers,
I personally will not be helping you. Besides, I don't know how :)
I do not think this subject fortifies the integrity of this thread or forum

A word of caution:
This is not an upgrade to your 6FET71WW (T500) or 7UET71WW1 (T400) bios.This is meant for a certain class of T400/T500, that use this 7VET71WW bios.
Please check your factory bios string to figure out which one applies to you before proceeding to flash. For most, it would be either 6FET71WW (T500) or 7UET71WW1 (T400).

Could anyone please make me a fully updated (LAN ROM, Intel AMT etc..), fully functional SLIC 2.1 Win7 BIOS for my ThinkPad T400s?

I refer to this old post for requesting an Intel 5300/5350 Wifi card support.
The official Lenovo notebook needs to use FRU wifi 5300 card to work with.

The post of offering working 3.0.5 bios is working fine on SLIC 2.1 but no support of non-FRU wifi unit.
I want a working mod to support this wifi card without FRU.

I have no idea what info I should provide to this board for this request.
Oh, yes, I have the 3.0.3 (slic 2.1) bios which gets rid of FRU problem. Tell me if anyone want this to study.

Yes I did drive life, just do not know where to get file Bios.wph for my T500. Rescue disk is done in Bios.wph just do not know if it is true. I've used the tool Phoniex_Crisis_Recovery. Help please ....

What if I do not have this help file Bios.wph the T500 to skopiram on the disk and trying to make the flash bios on Notebooku. I hope that we will really help .... Yen

There are 2 original bioses, use the one with the same size (4 or 8 Mbytes)
Alternatively you may rename your working mod to BIOS.WPH!!!!

YenYen 6FET71WW is correct, only that we are not going to the disketto. On the rescue floppy disk, I have (Autoexec.bat, minidos.sys, phlash16.exe and Bios.wph (514.3 k), which he did Phoenix_Crisis_Recovery. A to the disk, trying to ...????

Hereby I confirm this BIOS working on a T60w 8741 model .

If you want to try this I want to tell you, you might experience your screen freezing after about 50% of the flashing process. Mine did. DON'T PANIC! Wait until the flash tool will restart your TinkPad. Keep your fingers crossed and off the machine ;)

I was able to activate Windows 7 with "Certificate & Product Key & Instructions.zip (http://rapidshare.com/files/261228607/Activation_Win7.zip)" from Page 1 of this thread.

I did not try to activate Vista.

this is saying that if someone was to use malware on your bios,
it wouldn't matter if you had lojack or not, thus lojack does not

Well, at first, I must say that it is FALSE that the computrace module

computrace lojack is not as secure as the company claims. That,

only for laptop robbery...

Well, in some way... the information that is provided in this thread
can be used to defeat some software's protection, so we could
say that is giving someone the possibility of using a bios to

But talk about computer thieves... If anyone wants to defeat computrace lojack
to steal computers, its a VERY easy task to do. He only has to delete
the two computrace files from system path, create two new files with
the same names, and remove all rights over them to every one, including
administrators. Then go to the registry, and remove the computrace
service entries. If this is done before the first time the computer is
connected to the internet after the computer is reported as stolen,
it will never be found... I have tried this method in MY laptop (yes,
it is mine, I paid for it, I have the invoice...) and it works so well.

So, if I can control the whole thing so well, Why do I want to wipe
it from the bios?

In first, I never asked for this protection, I don't like being forced to
use a software that I don't want, and that behaves as a trojan.
Also there is the security risk that ZDnet has warned us about.

he did the first mod for this particular bios, and also because in other post
an this forums he said that he had succeeded in removing computrace

I am pretty sure that his intention was NOT to help thieves
to steal :)

Owners ThinkPad T500, W500, do not use current emulations List Lenovo, whereas two emulation and 2, each showing SLIC tables 2.0 and 2.1. You can flash your time no longer starts the computer as it has happened to me .... Good luck.

Me is absolutely clear how the bios flashat (read instruction), but with some gear that can copy Bios.wph, which is a big 8M and other files that are required to flash bios. Yen please link and USB PEN DRIVE ???

I too flash the BIOS and got my Win7 to be activated on my S10. Not sure about the error as i'm not good with this BIOS thing but i sure hope it's not a serious problem.

Sorry for being a pest, but I'd just like to know what do to at this point. I've got a Thinkpad R60 94xx. chaddawkins very kindly provided an SLIC 2.1 mod of this, which is said to work by some who have tested it. However, I cannot make it work with phlash16.exe in pure DOS. The flasher sais something like "File is corrupt" or something about the checksum. I've tried downloading it again, and I get the same result.

It seems I cannot use the WinPhlash application; I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, maybe that's what's causing an incompatibility. However, the DOS flasher rejects the flash.

Anyone have any idea about this? I'd appreciate any suggestions. If WinPhlash is really required, could this work from something like a USB booted Windows XP or something?

i found this after searching "phlash checksum"

i'm not too familiar with phlash16 as i should be, but did you try "phlash16.exe /?" in DOS?

Hello, I was in the process of flashing my X60t, everything was going fine however things 'froze' at "Processing Block 28 of 29"... I have been on that message for at least 10 mins now (I realize it says to wait for it to finish... but it's feeling like a lockup to me)... I have not done anything to stop it however the mouse and probably the keyboard (haven't touched it) are frozen. If anyone would be willing to give me some advice if they have encountered this before PLEASE do!

EDIT/more info: I was flashing from the 32-bit windows PE environment, I run 64 bit windows 7 and was receiving an error when tried to backup or flash...

EDIT2: I just realized this is the *Request* forum... I apologize for breaking the rules; I am just a bit anxious about if I am going to mess up my laptop or not... :/

Can be obtain HERE (ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41959.exe).

Open sp41959.exe with winrar and extract winphlash64.

edit PHLASH.INI and change Hideall parameter (Hideall=0)

i found this after searching "phlash checksum"

i'm not too familiar with phlash16 as i should be, but did you try "phlash16.exe /?" in DOS?

Getting somewhere, but not quite there yet...

The first suggestion (from Yen's post) gave me this message:

"The IBM routines (Lock/Unlock/Security) not found in the interface"

Your second suggestion just gives me the parameter list, as if I typed something wrong. And believe me, I tried it many times, doublechecking all the parameters. What will I do? WinPhlash in a 32bit bootable USB environment?

try using the phlash16.exe i linked to HERE (http://rapidshare.com/files/266699023/phlash16_1.6.8.9.zip) and the included phlash.bat file... these commands/switches are based on the list i got from it by using the /? switch
i doubt they are different than your version of phlash16, but it may be a possibility

try it by removing the:
/MFG /P

that leaves you something like:
phlash16.exe /Mod:BIOSMOD.ROM /MODE=3 /R=3 /S /V /X /Z

Actually, I solved the problem. I booted one of all those utility boot CDs you find on the net, started "Mini Windows XP" and went from there to WinPhlash. Since that OS is 32-bit, I had no problems flashing the ROM file you provided, only thing was I had to select the RAM drive for the mandatory backup in WinPhlash.

Your Thinkpad R60 94xx SLIC 2.1 mod works like a charm. I removed my old loader and installed the Lenovo CB-01 certificate and my Windows 7 was activated without any SLIC emulation. Thanks again for all your help.

PS. Maybe you should include that this BIOS has the no-1082 mod included in the list in the first post of this thread. Might be useful to some people. :)

:o Was the bios confirmed to work? It still stopped? 1 or two members I know had that before. I don't know what they did further, but honestly to tell you they had to try for recovery....I wish I could give an advice to you....if you can stop the flash process DON't reboot..try to manage to re-start the flash process with original bios if possible....if you re-boot the bios has to initialise again and I'm afraid in that condition it will not....I hope you can manage to re-start the flash process without to reboot....as last resort try to cancel the flash process calling task manager...and again do not reboot if possible...good luck...

I am trying to think back to when I flashed my bios, it never showed the final part# of part#, it just went straight to a "rebooting in 10 seconds" type message (I did mine in Win7) What I mean is, my bios only had 16 parts, so the last # of # it showed was 15 of 16, then the reboot warning. I never got a 16 of 16 message. Doesn't phlash16 have a command to make it restart? what i'm saying is, if you didn't specify that switch, would it reboot on it's own? or would it finish and sit there like it is at the moment and you have to power-off/power-on manually?

I am not saying power-off/power-on !!! lol stick with what Yen suggested

yeah, it seems no one ever reports on how they recovered, just the questions up to it... it's like once they get it recovered reality sinks in as to how close they came to losing their computer/money and they walk away never to be seen again

I wish laptops were as easy to recover as desktops... i bricked my desktop AT LEAST 8~9 times learning how to mod my computer...
I reported my experience and instructions in the recovery post, if you're wondering if i did my part

this is the reason i stress so hard for people to make recovery disk and try to test them BEFORE they flash, because it's so nerve wrecking to do it afterwards... and all of us reading hate to see this happen to people, ESPECIALLY with a bios that is proven and we know works...

I have found the next:
It's lacking of the marker part. At pre-installed machines the marker data was applied with the 'government' tools to the EEPROM, (named by skycn123).
At biosupdate it's always lacking, this trick Lenovo made to provide only one bios update, no matter for pre-installed machines or not.

If you add a second SLIC W7 / Vista doesn't activate.
You either have to use the government tool to add the matching marker, or if you mod the bios, to rename the SLIC header to e.g. SLAC to avoid a duplicate slic

thanks for your contribution... the image is hard for me to read, but i think it says the RSDT doesn't match the other 2... because i can see the hex... and both are CB-01.

I guess I have more to learn... i thought i patched the RSDT in the remake... oh well, i'll look at it again

and i don't exactly understand the reason why it matters that the RSDT has to match, as long as the OS activates (but only because i obviously can't get it :p) i can see the possibility of WGA using this to validate, but it hasn't happened yet, has it? but on a serious note, i understand that if i'm going to be doing this for other people i need to have it exactly right because if not then we could possibly have a catastrophic and abrupt freak-out of forum members if wga does check this

When i flashed my x60t the program hung up and after a min or 2 it said to reboot. I have the 32bit version, im not sure why its freezing but it finishes.

There was nothing wrong with the original mod (except that it had two SLICs active - 2.1 and 2.0, which could be fixed as it leads to activation problems in certain cases).

Windows is activated because XSDT OEM ID and OEM Table ID match with the SLIC (even though RSDT doesn't. I read somewhere that with ACPI revision 2.0 onwards, XSDT gets preference). RW-Everything doesn't show this, nor does SLIC Dump toolkit. But you can install acpiscope, go to File -> Load ACPI information -> From BIOS. Then click on XSDT and you'll see OEM ID and OEM Table ID are correctly set to "LENOVO" and "CB-01 ".

Did you try running SLIC dump toolkit before flasing this mod (with the factory bios)? I'm quite positive you would have got the same results and the pre-installed vista wouldn't have had any problems with activation/wga.

Also Chad, the place where you changed the RSDT OEM Table ID descriptor is really just a place holder and has no affect on how it's loaded in memory.

If Windows 7 activated with the original mod, stick to it. If it did not, request a mod with SLIC 2.0 deactivated.

If you really really want to satisfy the SLIC dump toolkit, change BIOSCODE01.ROM at offset 0xD720 but honestly, this is totally pointless.

Try this: install acpiscope (www.tssc.de/products/tools/acpiscope), go to File -> Load ACPI information -> From BIOS. Then click on XSDT and report back the OEM ID and OEM Table ID that you see there.

Also, I'd be very much interested in what SLIC dump toolkit says about the unmodded factory bios although I won't ask you to flash back to the original to find out...

I've requested biosmod for ThinkPad R61i, model 8932-AEG (15.4 inch widescreen with IEEE 1394) - http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=110192&postcount=358, but it happens nothing - I know, there are other requests, too.

What tools/ which way did you use?
Could you send me (PM) some explanation screens?
Or if you are so skilled, then maybe you could make biosmod for my Lenovo?

Chad, I'll try to post some more details about this later... But where you're trying to patch RSDT and XSDT descriptors is not the right location - it's just a place holder. For this bios, RSDT OEM Table ID is read from BIOSCODE01.ROM/0xD720 (compare the string you see here "Capell00" with the SLIC Dump Screenshot) and XSDT OEM ID / Table ID is read from BIOSCODE01.ROM/0xD96E (and it's already set to the correct value).

I also see that you have fixed the original 2.0 SLIC, which is good. But the RSDT and XSDT patch is not needed for this bios since you're using native SLIC for this system and can be removed.

Try this: install acpiscope (www.tssc.de/products/tools/acpiscope), go to File -> Load ACPI information -> From BIOS. Then click on XSDT and report back the OEM ID and OEM Table ID that you see there.

Also, I'd be very much interested in what SLIC dump toolkit says about the unmodded factory bios although I won't ask you to flash back to the original to find out...

but, that bios has only SLIC 2.0.
So I want to add SLIC 2.1 only.

i see what you're saying about 0xD720 and Capell00 now...

yeah, if Lenovo isn't making the RSDT match, then why should we have to? if this is the case, M$ can't make that part of WGA... and we're waisting our time doing it... this is just like the reason we're not doing TCPA table, they don't always match the same OEM Table ID

if the RSDT doesn't matter, then is it important that the RSDT not specify a SLIC, ie LENOVOTP-79, and then the SLIC say something else, ie LENOVOCB-01? maybe that could be used by WGA, if RSDT does specifiy a SLIC and the SLIC not match.... i'm just brainstorming...

The version linked in skycn123's post is the older version. Has anyone come across this? This would be really awesome since no bios mod will be required if the original slic could be updated to v2.1.

and i guess this is why the rw-everything dump has been so important, so that the modder can just search for whatever the dump says the RSDT is, and then replace it at that location... right?:confused:

Again, this is absolutely unnecessary. All this would do is to make the SLIC Dump tool happy. There would be no affect on activation status: Windows is already activated since XSDT matches the SLIC and will remain activated.

Here (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=111105&postcount=44) is another thread discussing a similar problem, that is, RSDT not matching the SLIC even in the factory bios. This is completely normal and not an error!

Try this method (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=109317&postcount=338). The CD I downloaded is called "Hiren's boot CD" or something, it can be found on various places on the internet. It worked for me on my ThinkPad R60.

I fully agree. Either the OEMIDs of RSDT OR XSDT has to match to them of the SLIC in order to get activated!

I flashed the BIOS successfully and RWEverything (under XP) now sees the SLIC 2.1 table; I am getting rid of my Win7 RC for a clean install of RTM and will report back further results (hopefully later today).
Testing on a ThinkCentre A50p (8194)

EDIT:
Installed Windows 7 Ultimate RTM without entering a key; used OpaTool with the standard LENOVO certificate and the default key -> Activated successfully!

did you follow the included instructions exactly as they are written? What i'm asking is, did you flash BOTH bios?




i think i did, but



first, flash the $0A6A000.FL1 in the folder.
after that flash and reboot, flash with this $0A6A000.FL1

the instruction is not really clearly.

I flashed the "$0A6A000.FL1" which includes the whole winflash tools, after that the "$0A6A000.FL1" file into the folder who contains only "6auj13us" folder & the "instructions.txt" several times..




after the 5th try it works! ths a lot for ur help..

I was able to flash the first bios (wich was an older as i had) via the winflash update funktion, and after that
i could flas the actually fw version from you..

I fully agree. Either the OEMIDs of RSDT OR XSDT has to match to them of the SLIC in order to get activated!

Well, based on my experience, I wouldn't say it's a simple either-or.

I have seen cases such as this, where XSDT matches but RSDT doesn't and Windows still activates.

However, while modding VMWare bios (phoenix), I fixed the RSDT Table but somehow missed the XSDT and Windows wouldn't activate even though SLIC dump tool reported everything was fine (obviously, since it doesn't take XSDT into consideration).

To me, the activation logic seems more like this:
If XSDT is present, it must match the SLIC for successful activation and RSDT is ignored. If XSDT is not present, RSDT must match the SLIC for successful activation.

Yes, it's the same tool - but apparently only v3.1 onwards can update T400/T500 (based on what I could gather from the english translation). The version linked in skycn123's post is the older version. Has anyone come across this? This would be really awesome since no bios mod will be required if the original slic could be updated to v2.1.

i PM skycn123 and asked if he can get the latest/newest version, since he said that he has the engineer account and can download it... let's wait to see what he says
He said that he is only able to get the version he got, the others are out there, but would cost money... he sent me a few links, like this one

You are right, since I'm modding always both I didn't examine that because there is no advantage to mod only one of them.

Well, I haven't examined the header any further. I've figured what I basically need to make my mods.
Your explanation is right, header offset 09h, byte 1Bh is header length byte..
If you recompress the modules using prepare the tool doesn't zero the four address bytes in case of split modules. I don't care about since it doesn't matter. It points always outside the bios address..also 00 00 00 00 would do.....prepare.exe is usually used by PBE and in combination with catenate.exe. prepare exe alone doesn't get addresses, so the link address bytes are always 'nonsense', the first, the link to next module you have to correct, also the module index byte, the link address to next part of split module I leave uncorrected.

The Nonsense: link address to next module is always EDACEDAC, link to split module: repeated module body size....

Lenovo restricts to use other devices. The bioses have got a whitelist inside. At the whitelist there are listed the device IDs that are allowed to work. Some users are using other devices, which are not listed at the whitelist.
If you are using the whitelist mod you may use any device (wlan adapter etc.) you want...

Using PBE 2.2.0.1, do I ignore every Unsupported Module Class errors when opening this 2.28 bios ?

OEM Revision is insignificant, in fact when loaded in memory, I've always seen it get reset to a value different from the one used for the mod (usually this value is common across the other acpi modules). I always set it to "00" or "01" (and of course fix the checksum) in the SLIC table before modding a bios.

Most Lenovo SLIC bios implement SLP1.0 as well (to support XP downgrade option for Vista, I think). WinXP should activate with Lenovo (http://oembios.net/filesets/5237B729.torrent) Oembios files.

Chad, how did you create this mod since I am not even able to decompose the ROM extracted from $01B3000.FL1 to verify (nor the modded ROM)?

You should take time to read all posts... before flashing

The page you are referring to with Bios 7ouj15us is not for 8932-G7G. It's for R61e and R61i....

I used the same bios and had the same result. Had to swap the motherboard out. Not going to try again. So much for being a guinea pig.

No offense, but that post (388) should be removed, and further, people who are just learning how to mod BIOS's shouldn't be posting untested BIOS's for us suckers to flash and brick our laptops with. :mad:

Good point. This could have been easily prevented!
And obviously the modders here don't have the resources to test every bios they release, so we must accept the risk involved or learn to do it ourselves.

If any of the recovery methods have solved a brick machine the ultimate solution is to remove the BIOS chip of the motherboard and flash it with a EPROM PROGRAMMER (http://www.sivava.com/buynow.php?pd=A054).

Here is the link to LENOVO MAINTENANCE HARDWARE MANUAL (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-39298) you will find details to extract the motherboard.

The page you are referring to with Bios 7ouj15us is not for 8932-G7G. It's for R61e and R61i....

If you look at TotoTata7 post... you see they are asking for the 7kuj27us.exe for the 8932 model. I believe this was a copy of Lenovo's site...

No way, most chips are TSOP32 and hard to remove and programm.
But when i bricked my X41 tablet i open it and want to sell in part, i reconized that the mainboard has a connector 4 bios programming.

As I said before, I tried to flash 7kuj27us - I thought that is the right bios for my machine. But the right official bios 7ouj15us - it flashed without a questions. I don't know what lenovo playin' but in fact we have what we have.

In waiting for usb floppy then will try to recover.

got my hands on T400S today, ran RW Everything on it and it already has SLIC 2.1, so you can mark it on the first page as one that already comes with SLIC 2.1 from the manufacturer.

if you ask me about the T400S, its so GORGEOUS!

Can someone mod the BIOS for T400 and remove CompuTrace?? I see mine as "Activated" and it's grayed out, can't deactivate it from the BIOS. Also would be nice to add the FRU protection bypass so we can add generic hardware cards.

Maybe the notebook model is new enough they haven't released anything new.

Hi I'd like to say thanks for the work gone into the BIOS mods.

However I downloaded 63af08us_TP-6D-SLIC21 for the Lenovo N100 3000 but non of the certs (the one supplied on this thread or any ones on Orbit30's & Hazarz 7Loder v1.5 R2) are working to activate my windows, i even tried adding the cert manually but no luck.

Any help will be greatly appreciated :confused:

I guess some members cannot imagine how much work that all is. Chaddawkins learned to mod LENOVO bioses, which aren't easy at all. Then he also did great work in updating the links, managing the thread.
One thing you all never should forget: To mod bioses is not like to patch a game exe for a no DVD cr**k. IF you make a mistake at biosmodding, a Notebook may brick!!!

Now I'm in a team developing a Phoenix mod tool. We are working hard on it.
To mod bioses is here second priority!
W7 wasn't released yet to the main public and some are already impatient or are afraid of nobody cares here about requests....

It's so simple to say, but it's true: We are not enough modders!!!
W7 is now THE OS and Vista was like cr*p, everybody likes W7, but nothing usually is for free, even death may cost money...
If you cannot wait for, buy a legit serial for W7!!!

You all are requesting for a free service to get your biosmod. This fact you never should forget.

Please wait posting requests if you notice the thread is stagnating!
It's senseless to post and post......check here again and watch the thread, if it's going on again you may post.....in the meantime rearm your W7 what's the problem about????

The Phoenix tool isn't ready to be released to the public yet. You sure know that Phoenix bioses are very complex and almost all are different in managing SLIC tables.....

I've mod my R61i with bios 2.23, it becomes a brick and I brought it to service (recovery ~70$).

Well that's the risk, maybe 2.23modded, doesn't works, maybe you did bad on your part (flash bad file, problem when decompressing the file, ....).

For my part, I've had no problem with the good file for my notebook, so the 2.28modded is working, I can't verify 2.23 as it is not for my notebook.

The process of flashing was successful, then the laptop will automatically turn off itself. No evidence. Do not blame anyone.

Well after having read the entire post once again, I saw you mod, and flash it (I didn't touch anything in advanced settings), everything worked fine, W7 is now fuly activated.

Downloaded from the first link, and reuploaded to RS and MU.

Flashed my R61-8919 successfully (thanks for this). Still using RC though and cannot test. RW shows SLIC 2.1, but I see a difference probably of the marker which was LENOVOTP-7K and now is LENOVOTP-7V.

Flashed my thinkpad (also have a R61 Type 8919) and can confirm this. Everything works fine and W7-RTM activates :) Thanks for this mod, NathanAdler!

I've flashed R52 1848 with this checked with R&W. Shows the SLIC 2.1 info, but wont activate. Thanks for the work though.

please run SLIC DUMP TOOLKIT (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=90338&postcount=3) and let us know what it says

I agree, I wouldn't flash either

EDIT:
I'll take another look at this in the coming days and be very careful/thorough with the mod
