Hi,

GREAT!!! Thanks so much for your time on doing this and it seems to be working ok.
I have a request if you dont mind...
Since my laptop is using a non standard wireless card, with the new bios I get the message:
"104-Unsupported wireless network device detected. System halted. Remove device and restart"
I forgot that a year ago I had a bios modded to allow other wireless cards to be used by HP notebooks; this modded bios was the same latest version F.24.

Could it be possible to mod this bios to 2.1 SLIC? this way I will have both on the same bios - use of any wireless card and SLIC 2.1, I tried attaching it but it seems that is larger than the allowed size... I would appreciate it very much if you could.. any place where I can upload it?

Thanks!

Thanks again!

Edit, I uploaded the bios here:

Yes you can. And it's no problem at all. The bios is still fully functional, but won't activate. Try to re-mod it and tick replace all occurrences of SLIC if not done before....;)

I'm confused. HP's website has your bios version as 2.3 and you post it as version 1.12. There is a big difference between the two.

Yes you can. And it's no problem at all. The bios is still fully functional, but won't activate. Try to re-mod it and tick replace all occurrences of SLIC if not done before....;)

I have Two slic entries reported by Everest and RW in my own F.59A HP Pavillion DV6599EA bios which I modded after reading the excellent guidance on here.

When I get home, I'm happy to upload Screen captures or downloads if that will help. Not crashes or problems and have both a Vista and Win 7 ultimate installs activated using the SLIC+Cert and Serial.

Hi Busykid508,

Yes, it has been modified and its working - and thank you so much for it-, the bios I posted for download here is the same but its not the modified for SLIC, it already has a mod and the modification on this particular bios file is that allows to use other wireless cards with hp notebooks (not just the ones that hp said you should use - they whitelisted only some they sale), but this bios does not have the SLIC modification so I was wondering if you could take this particular bios and add the SLIC modification to it, this way it would have both: other wireless adapters selection and SLIC.

-Motherboard Model: Pavilion dv5236om Notebook PC
-Bios revision: F.24 A (sp37159.exe)

HP SLIC 2.1 = http://slics5.myftp.org/biosFiles/COMPAL_HEL80_81_BIOS107B_HPSLIC21_SLP.rar

found and replaced Capell00.

Yen said this needs to be flashed recovery style..I have no idea.:D

Let me know how it goes. These are a stinker..

ok i got home and started flashing, this is my 5th attempt, waiting 30m between each attempt, tried all usb ports, default bios settings. It just won't flash the bios, i still see my original bios.

I created the rec disk from the .msg from haxxa, when i follow the procedure, the nb turns on in flash mode (fan 100%) i think the bios gets read because the floppy is busy for quite a while but it just won't flash it.

so i'm thinking

1. maybe i need a different version of the crysis disk, because i have done this before when i did a bad flash and it worked but it wasn't haxxa's version of the disk? or are they all the same??

2. maybe you know how if the bios is corrupt it stop a normal flash? since i'm doing this in rec mode i only have a blank screen and can't see whats going on. 911med i was hoping you could check out this possibility??

3. maybe yen can provide some insight?

this is what i did, format disk - create floppy from image - rename mod bios to same name as bios on the disk and copy over. thats right isn't it? i don't have to include the bat or anything else?

just gave myself an idea maybe i have to include the phlash16.exe from the mod bios? i'll try it and report back

thanks again :)

I'm trying to mod a BIOS with the Awardtool but the .wph file is 1,049kb and I get the error: 'BIOS size not valid'
Is there a way round this?

That is natural with AWARD BIOS...ignore it and go on

+hey thank u in advance for modding our bios, but i have read kulant and dr widley......

is it too risky? what do we should do?

to try to flash or not?

AND

I have the same problems with the extensa 5220 bios like kulant,

neither adrpat nor Busykid508 can be flashed with phlash 1.7.0.0 using the acer suggested commands (/x /s /c /mode=3 /pn). Is there anything we can do ?

AND

seems that Phlash16 locks up during loading the .rom file after a few minutes a message appears "Platform Signature not found in the Interface"
btw. i use: "phlash16 /x /s /c /mode=3 /pn CLB-135.ROM" maybe i have to flash in another way? any suggestions?

This will work now...try it...all 3 of you

Use an Award bios??

Phoenix is not Award.

.WPH is phoenix extension. You need the phoenix tool or do manual.

There is something that you are doing wrong because that bios has already been modified and tested and it works.

Hi, It does not activate..

Bios is SLIC 2.1, I installed Windows 7 Ultimate change s/n and use the enlosed hp-certificate but nothing what can be wrong? This is the MSDN/Retail OS that I deleted the ei.config file so I have all the versions to choose from, do it matter? or should I have changed the ei.config file to OEM first?

I followed the steps:
slmgr.vbs -ilc c:\hp.xrm-ms
slmgr.vbs -ipk ###########
still 30 dyas it reads
if I do slmgr.vbs -ato then I get Error: Product activation failed.

Maybe I need to use a different hp certificate? suggestions?

Hi, I actually believe that the bios mod is correct just :p wondering what other 'item' is causing the problem...

This machine has 2 partitions, one is Windows 2008 and the other used to have windows 7 RC (activated) - I formatted this partition while installing to install the new windows 7-, could be this the problem? should I kill everything/ delete partitions and re-install?

I'm confused. HP's website has your bios version as 2.3 and you post it as version 1.12. There is a big difference between the two.

Again, i get an error on both modded bioses (adrpat and Busykid508) with phlash16 1.7.0.0 (invalid flashinit.bin)

I gues this bios is really not modable :-(

Also on the windows vista slic 2.0 request this bios did not got modded, so i suggest lets try an older bios to mod to slic 2.1

On vista i used this mod by Fzeven http://www.box.net/shared/cm85wwvk88
and it worked great (with slic 2.0).

So, maybe its easier to mod this one

Can I get a brick out of it???

No more than if the slic was put in. Compal are special. Many times because of these static IDs. All that was done is the string change. The tool will not do this and you will have a SLIX for the table. I think this is pretty safe.

It is a phoenix, after all. You can get a brick from a factory phlash..

This is a tool mod. It is the same you would get with another bios file..

I have successfully flashed using busykid508's modded bios it flashed 1st time with phlash16 all I have to do now is install windows 7. I will post the result monday but I have no doubt that it will activate.

http://www.biosmods.com/showthread.php?tid=497&pid=2246#pid2246

The link to the modded bios is on the above forum, I do not want to post the link directly on here as I have not been able to ask the modder if I may do so.
As I know that busykid 508 use's this forum also (see this page), he/she may wish to post a direct link

That is natural with AWARD BIOS...ignore it and go on

I cannot go any further after loading the BIOS with Award SLIC Tool. It disables all options after the error message. Is there another tool that will work?

I have tried using the tool I made a while back which uses the ISA method and CBROM. However CBROM just seems to hang and takes up most of my CPU so I have to kill the process.

Any suggestions on this one?

remake your bios with a new tool
hope it woks
http://www.4shared.com/file/124866693/7fca296d/BIOS.html

I feel like we're making progress...
The latest mod flashes OK (no 'Checksum not zero' error) but, unfortunately, SLIC Dump Toolkit v1.08 shows RSDT != PubKey == Marker

If you feel like having another go (and I would certainly appreciate it), here are the details again to save you trawling through posts.

Motherboard Manufacturer and Model : Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 2515
Bios Revision : 1.11c
Bios Type : Phoenix
Bios SLIC : Fujitsu (FUJ-PC-FUJ) 2.1
Bios Link : http://support.ts.fujitsu.com/Download/ShowDescription.asp?SoftwareGUID=E3BC4B31-6395-4C69-9678-088C9AA37480&OSID=DD13C337-8EFF-4CFB-A589-72971D7BCBCE&Status=True&Component=Flash%20-%20BIOS

By the way, thanks for using the Fujitsu SLIC this time around!

Thank you...:):D

BTW: phlash16.exe was missing from that bundle; I just grabbed one from another Pheonix flash kit. Also, for the truly dense like myself, I noticed that in the instructions, the command line parameters do not have spaces between them, which seem to be required. That'd probably only throw a dolt like yours truly, but thought I'd mention it.

Hello,

I would be very grateful if someone could modify my BIOS for use with Windows 7.

Here is the information on your request:

-Manufacturer: HP
-Motherboard Model: Compaq nx9010 Notebook PC
-Bios revision: 1.3 (sp30517.exe)
-Bios Type: Phoenix BIOS
-Primary Bios Download Link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp30501-31000/sp30517.exe
-Source of Bios Download Link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=321852&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=321850&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=181

I can extract the file but there is no .ROM or .WPH file for me to modify. Either one of these 2 files are needed to modify a Phoenix Bios.

THOUGHT I'd Giving Flashing another go !!!!! OOPS....the laptop wont boot...dead screen, powers up CAPS lock, Number Lock , scoll lock light up, cd drive moves and hard disk flickers...but thats it...trid Crisdisk with winB, FnB but nothing kicking in the usb floppy disk.

All my own fault for tinkering!!

ADVICE WELCOME :)

You need to make a Phoenix Crisis Disk from the CRISDISK that I gave in the download and recover your old bios.

Cannot get LAPTOP Sony Vaio VGN - C1S to load from usb floppy with the crisdisk in!!!! DOES anyone know the SONY BIOS recovery key sequence, tried the FN B, Fn F and Win B....

It looks like it'll also read from the cd, I tried creating a cd version of the Floppy but not sure its reading..or can't confirm thats correct!!

All help appreciated.

OK, am home this afternoon to revive the Sony VGN-C1S laptop I put into a coma.

All current recommended key combinations for Crisdisk to kick into life do not seem to have any effect.

Can someone confirm that itt has worked on Sony VGN laptops...or of other key combinations to try.

Thanks a Lot
