Gentlemen / Ladies,
In a attempt to try to get a listing of SLP 1.0 bios files in (1) place instead of being scattered over several hundred posts,
Please post requests for SLP 1.0 BIOS mods for XP OEM activation in this thread.
Additionally... if you already have a SLP 1.0 enabled /modified bios please feel free to post!!!
The general concept is to have a listing, a database in (1) place...
Please use the same format as currently being used in the VISTA SLP 2.0 /SLIC 2.0 bios mod thread on the "Vista" side of the board entitled: " Requests For Oem Bios Mods Here!!!!" thread.http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=3
******
Please put the following info in your REQUEST.
1: As a example you would put the Motherboard Manufacturer, Model and Bios revision in the TITLE bar + the word REQUEST:
ASUS A8N-SLI PREMIUM 1303 -REQUEST!
2: Followed by the following info in the body of your post:
-Motherboard Manufacturer and Model:
(e.g. ASUS A8N-SLI PREMIUM).
-Type of board. (e.g. Desktop /notebook)
-Format. (e.g. ATX, BTX, Micro/full size- This info while not needed is "nice" for those persons "looking" for a board)
-CPU type+socket ( e.g. this info is not needed for the mod- but nice to know)
-Bios revision. (e.g. 1303).
-Bios File name (e.g. 1303.zip)
-Bios Type (e.g. AMI/AWARD/PHOENIX/INTEL).
-Bios Link. (e.g. ftp://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/s...emium/1303.zip )
-Preferred OEM SLP desired: (e.g. Dell, HP, etc) That being said most likely the mod will have the ASUS id strings in it, that being the preferred format.
(Note if you have a secondary bios link- please post in case primary link does not work.)
IMPORTANT: After the Bios mod is done and it is VERIFIED that you have a working installation report back the mod results, so a listing can be compiled.
************
************
Please put the following info in when reporting a SUCCESS or FAILURE .:
1: In the title bar put e.g.:
ASUS A8N SLI PREMIUM 1303 - SUCCESS! (or Failure)
(Followed by the following info in the body of your post):
-Motherboard Manufacturer, Model and Bios revision
(e.g. ASUS A8N SLI PREMIUM 1303)
-Name of the Modder
-Modded bios Link
-Modded bios file name (example=1303_SLPv1.0_added for_XP.zip,... Original file name being 1303.zip)
-Screenshot of Activation (optional)
-obs
-XP activation status = Success, or Failure
-Special Instructions= (if any) of any tricks you may have used to get it to flash. That being said if you have a on-going thread please link to that to reduce thread clutter.

NOTE that as a general rule that when shopping for a motherboard or doing requests that some motherboards mod easily+ and some can't be modded at all:
below are the criteria which you might wish to consider:
(b) At this point in time, it seems that Asus mobo with AMI as the BIOS lends itself to being easily modded, compared to Phoenix or Award BIOS
(c) It seems that Intel, Dell, HP, Compaq mobos/BIOSes are difficult or next-to-impossible to mod
(d) Asus SLIC is the preferred SLIC for use in modded BIOSes and its OEM product key is the most widespread in use
To expand on the comments above,
1: At this point in time only Intel boards with Intel-Ami-core bioses can be modded.
It appears that there are NO editing programs for INTEL motherboards running a INTEL BIOS and that allot of the OEM's use Intel boards, branding them to the OEM spec's. (e.g Dell, etc)
The only tool out there being Intel® Integrator Toolkit, AKA= "ITK"... It allowing for many mods to the Intel bios, but it being reported it does not mod the SLIC table and I'm assuming it would not allow the SLP info to be modded either -
If anyone knows differently- Please post!!! as unlocking the secrets of the Intel base boards would help allot of people !!! I'm assuming there has to be a "plug-in" that works with ITK. Link to ITK info here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=8281&postcount=6547
ITK tutorial showing some screenshots-
The Intel Integrator Toolkit can be used to unlock hidden options in BIOS for Intel motherboards
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=96648
2: The comments about ASUS SLIC pertain to Vista, not XP.
Disclaimer: Be very careful if modding a notebook motherboard- Reason being if a replacement is needed it's going to be sort of pricey. (big $$$$) compared to a desktop board.
PS: For those looking for tools to mod your own bios, check this thread...http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=529 If you do mod your own bios be sure to post back in this thread your results!

Try first to edit the DMI entry by yourself: (it's a easy and fast way for SLP1.0 at Award bios)
Use DmiScope: Click unsorted at the bottom left, choose base board information---> data fields. Insert at serial number (was not set) the 'AcerSystem' string and write DMI entry. Check if it survives a reboot.
Try to activate XP.
If it isn't working, please upload your oembios.ca_ file from your xp CD.
Please report

Hi all ,Well I have good news and bad news. All went great with the first one,it activated but the next two I Bricked ( win some, loose some )
Hi,
sorry to hear that!
Please tell me which one exactly works! I need to know that to see what could be wrong.
Bricked, you mean totally unusable? Are you able to recover the bios?
This is important to know to me, cause two of your bioses got minit modules, which caused to brick earlier at SLIC mods as well.
It seems that modbin cannot handle bioses with minit modules.
I assume it was the AMI bios that worked, right?

Hi Mr. Yen,You have a Crystal Ball today. The AMI made it thru without any problems and activated. One AWD Bios board is on its way back to NewEgg as we speak. The other, is half bricked I'm still playing with it, ASUSs fool proof Bios are not 100% for this "FOOL"

Hi perbe, how did you perform this wonderful feat,I would like know how myself
woodburn1118
Thanks for that information. The bios of perbe is much older than your Award bios. And he has the possibility to reprogram the bios chip. He could test many trials cause it doesn't matter if it bricks or not. The knowledge I have obtained I used to make your mod. But unfortunately your bios is very new and has got a minit module which IMO caused together with using modbin to brick. I'm sorry but this can happen sometimes. I didn't know that before!
There is a new modbin out but no one of them want to share this, because it's no freeware.

Be careful if you cannot recover a bad flash.
Edit:
Yen found that your bioses have a module called "MEMINIT.BIN" that can cause problems when the bios are modded, I have never modded a bios with "MEMINIT.BIN" module before.. I you can recover bad flash (hotswap from another pc, or a programmer) then you can try these...
He must be very careful! You know the minit module? It contains the MEMINIT.BIN. This module initializes the physical ram! It is very sensible. The most bioses with them caused a bricked board if you change the structure of the bios!
I would try like this: Extract and release ALL modules with the new Cbrom. modifiy system bios and compress it. Copy and paste it into the bios. Then insert ALL modules again remaining the order. Sorry, I discovered the new cbrom today not before!!
New CBROM32_115.EXE (3rd October 2007 from ASUS)

I used the new CBROM32_115 for this mod :) and the nice hexeditor HEdit. Just did it the same way as the mod for my old card but I added and removed a module with CBROM to fix the checksum. I did not know that MEMINIT.BIN was a problem, dont flash if you cant recover... but if you can please test :)
Has ASUS M2NPV-MX a Minit module?

Has ASUS M2NPV-MX a Minit module?
One more question: Have you got modbin 2.04.01?
THX
It's no minit module on my Asus M2NPV-MX... But I used only the CBROM32_115 and HEdit to create the modded bioses. No I don't have the new modbin, sorry. :(
No problem :)
About MEMINIT.BIN :
The first mods that bricked were for Abit boards. We modded a SLIC and ALL Abit boards with that 'new' module bricked. At that time there was no cbrom that could set the entry point for this module. The only solution for us was to modify the modules and to remain MEMINIT.BIN' s offset!! This mod we called OEM7 mod.
We didn't need to use modbin a long time. But I used it again cause I want to edit the systembios. This was no good idea at MEMINIT containing bioses, cause it destroyed the structure of the bios. IMO if the offset is different at the mod it bricks as well!!! So do not move code, better is to release all modules and insert them again! We should not use modbin, except the new one when somebody has got it.
@woodburn1118
If you want to try a new mod, please ask. And sorry again, mobin destroyed your bios. I should have known this before, but I didn't!

Did you test them both ?
Congratulations, perbe!
You used latest CBROM32_115 and Hedit. You've inserted a module and released it to correct checksum.
The new compressed size of the system bios, was is larger than the original one? Have you moved the code (modules), or have you released all the modules and inserted them again (as I do, but this is very time consuming).
Thank you. (I can check this by myself, but I'd be pleased if you can tell it to me)

Yen
Tool used for the mod:
CBROM32_115
HEdit (Standard Hex editor)
TotalCMD for comparing and unpacking
HEdit first to find the systembios and save it to a new file called 1501.lha ... extracted it with totalcmd and edited the extracted file with HEdit. Then I used CBROM32_115 to rearchive the modified systembios. I compared the filesize to the original compressed systembios. Then I used HEdit and moved the other modules to get space for the new bigger systembios. (moved all modules 1501mod.lha-1501.lha) This bios did not have any SUM8 check after the modules like my old one. I used CBROM32_115 and added a small modules and released it again to fix the checksum...
Thanks for your explanation. I thought to move the code will be harmful, because of the minit module, but it worked!:)
(This is why we had some bricked boards before, well a bios is good for surprises at any matter)

It works fine perbe,I copied the four Asus OEM files into my XP Pro OEM CD.I used Everest but could not find any SLIC???
Hehe, there are two different things, don't mix them up:
1. SLP1.0 activation for Windows XP. Therefore you need only a special string in a special physical address range, the OEM files and a OEM royalty key. No SLIC!
2. SLP2.0 activation for Vista. You need a ACPI table which contains the public key and the public marker. This is called SLIC! Additionally you need a certificate and a OEM royalty key. No text string.
SLP= SystemLockedPreinstallation, version 1 and 2.
SLIC= SoftwareLicensingInternalCode

Hi,
this is a Dell M07 SLIC mod plus SLP1.0 for Dell. (I don't have the FX09 SLIC and cert.)
Please flash it like this:

You may try first to write the TOSHIBA string into DMI like this:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=11481&postcount=79
Toshiba is valid at DMI, you don't need to flash a mod if this will work.
Alternatively try this:

Any ideas for mce2005? I noticed msft released keys for home/pro/pro64/tablet but no mce. Possible mce is same as tablet?
I have existing dell notebook that came with dell slp1, and I'm using xp pro currently without fail. But I'd like to switch to mce.
Thanks for input.

Shouldn't this model already have slp for either vista or xp or maybe even both? I assume it should have the dmi for xp no problem. Have you checked with everest to see if there's any slic for vista?

It does have a slic for vista, the only problem, my reinstall disk load all the grabage from toshiba. I have a dell Vista, and XP disk, as you know dell give you the OS disks without the garbage in it. This is the only reason i ask for the modd, Or if you know where a can get a good toshiba xrm-ms file. (its not on the reinstall dvd's) (there image dvd not clean os install) and a toshiba XP PRO disk or the OEM files to put on XP PRO disk. (tried an oemSLP disk didn't work)

You try http://oembios.net/ ?
I made an xp disc with oembios from there and it works fine. Haven't tried the vista cert though.
But honestly, if you've already slic for toshiba for both xp and vista, it's better to figure out how to make it work with it..

hmm, the toshiba xp cd i have is rather clean.
If you wanted to make your own xp disc, just grab the oembios files off the bloated disc then. You'll probably need the pid from the setupp.ini file as well. The key is in the unattended file

First post.
It is possible to request for a bios mod for both SLP 1.0 and SLIC 2.0 for motherboard to Dell OEM?
MB = Gigabyte, GA-M55S-S3 (rev. 1.0)
Bios Rev = F10
Bios Type = Award
Modd = DELL SLP1 & SPL2
Bios Link = Gigabyte website bios download (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2316)
I already search the forum but all the GA-M55S-S3 motherboards are either Rev. 1.1 or 2.0, and there is no SLP 1 mod either. Help much appreciated.
Also, can anybody let me know if the OEMBios files on www.oembios.net is equally applicable for Windows XP x64? If I can get the bios modded, I will try it out anyway.

Sorry for that late reply. I'm very busy this days.
To make a mod I need a memory dump with Hwdirect address F0000 size FFFF.
Copy the code and paste it into winhex. (right click, select all, right click copy, then open winhex, paste it into a new file, therefore use ASCII hex, save and upload).
After that I'll decide if it's possible for Dell SLP 1.0.

I have the Gigabyte AM2 GA-M55Plus-S3G Revision 1 board. I'm trying to build a bios that will work with Dell. I want to set up the bios to be Dell OEM SLP 1.0 for Windows XP and Dell OEM SLP 2.0 for Windows Vista.
I can do the SLP 2.0 mod easily using the ISA Method but I can't figure out how to do the Dell SLP 1.0 for XP. They don't use a standard address for the DMI strings.
I've been using the F10 bios with HP SLP 1.0 and Dell SLP 2.0 but I would like both to be Dell. They made some fixes in the F11 bios that I would like to switch to. I will post the info below in case Yen or someone else wants to try it for me. I really appreciate your help.

Help for an issue that really is a security nightmare waiting to happen!!
Here's the problem: Intel has a special Option Rom Bios which requires a user to hit Ctrl+I to install Raid systems on their computer systems. However, Intel has no way of hiding or protecting the Ctrl+I feature which is accessible when the system boots up before going to the system bios. So, someone can delete the raid system just by pressing Ctrl + I at boot up. How can someone stop this from occurring? Is there a software solution out there to stop this from happening? Is there some way to reprogram Bios to get an alternative hot key that is different from Ctrl + I so no one can change this. Can someone buy a hardware solution that must be supplied a password before getting to the bios screen? Of course, I have spent hours with this and still no real good solutions. Of course, Intel just says we might put that feature in new motherboards but so far nothing exists. However, Intel's answer does not help me with this board.
Just today, an associate from Password Crackers, Inc. responded in kind by saying that large companies have requested custom bios functions but the cost is very expensive to achieve this. Typically, they have to write custom controllers to keep the average user from tampering with the bios. Of course, the associate said that I could even custom make the controller which again would be difficult and expensive.
Also, on Tom's Hardware, some tech experts said to try bios mods. I am not sure what that means but it appears this is the place for that idea. However, I did notice that your having trouble with Intel boards. The board that needs the bios modification is an Intel D975XBX motherboard which runs an intel duo core 2 processor. Is this possible with not too much expense involved to change the bios or should I call it the day with this one?
This is all I have related to the problem at hand. Hopefully, someone out there might have some suggestions. If not, thanks for looking any way.
"The Head Master"
The problem at Intel bios is that there are no powerful tools available to edit / modify the bios.
The only one I've found so far is the Intel Integrator Toolkit.
http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/software/itk/download.htm
You may test it to see if you are able to resolve your problem.
I'm sorry that's all I know about Intel bios.:(
To edit a bios is always a risk, since the bios code initializes the hardware at bootup. One wrong move and you'll end up with a bricked board.
In that case you have to RMA your board, if the recovery procedure will fail. So the work we are doing here is always a picky thing.

ASUS CROSSHAIR Desktop, ATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64x2 black edition processor, AM2 socket
Bios revision 0804
Crosshair_0804.zip
Award Bios

ASUS SLP and SLIC.
I was hoping someone could mod my bios for SLP and SLIC. I have found newer bios file listed in your forums, however on the ASUS forum site dealing with my motherboard the general consensus is that the newer bios versions are for the tri-core and quad-core processors only. The newer bios versions do not work as well for the AMD Athlon 64x2 processors.
Thank You

Thank you for the fast reply. Two questions if I might. 1:Has anyone tried this mod? 2:Would I have gotten the same result with the latest Award Bios Tool? I did try it, everything worked but I had the first time bios mod insecurities.
Thanks Again,
azhoss
Hi azhoss,
1. The mod methods have been used many times, but you are the first to use that exact bios because I made it for you after you requested it.
2. You would get the same result if you used the Award tool and selected "Pubkey" for the mod method and selected a .txt file with the SLP name(s) that you wanted. The bios wouldn't be identical but would be equivalent.
Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you very much for your quick response zort. The bios mod worked beautifully :)
I believed the stickied thread was for bios which were already modded.
Glad it worked. Thanks for feedback!
@ zort, don't you think you should close this thread peeps are jumping betweeen this and Request to insert SLP1.0 into modded BIOS thread also stereo_junkie does have a valid point Request to insert SLP1.0 into modded BIOS does sound as if it is for bioses that have allready been modded.

Hello,
Requesting SLP 1.0 Bios mod for ASUS P5Q-E BIOS 2101. Would be nice if somebody could add Dell OEM support.

Suggestion:
For SLP ONLY requests, use this thread:
http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=525
For SLP(XP) requests where TS already have a SLIC table (Vista) modified bios, use this existing thread.
However, that means posting links to an original bios would be detrimental/confusing as TS obviously then would like an addition to an already modified bios.
Posting the original bios then doesn't make sence, unless the "modifier" knows
how to add both strings to the original.
Better would then be if TS uploads their already modified bios, to add additional strings.
With other words, this thread should only be used for peeps that want BOTH SLP and SLIC table added to their bioses.

zort,
Thanks so much. I did the vlk to oem conversion 15 minutes and all is excellent. Haven't tried the SLIC yet but according to the oembios check utility it's all there and functioning. You can safely add your bios mod to the tested bios,s, at least for the SLP function. Everest also shows the SLIC so I would say with a high degree of confidence that anyone could safely flash this bios.
Thanks so much again

OEMBIOS doesn't check for SLIC...use everest to be simple, but Im sure if XP activated, the slic is there also....:D:D

@Tito
No need for a mod, just use DMI Boot CD for Award-AMI-Intel BIOS (Add SLP1.0 w/o modding) (http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/6351-DMI-Boot-CD-for-Award-AMI-Intel-BIOS-(Add-SLP1-0-w-o-modding))
Thanks FreeStyler, I used it last night and it adds Hewlett string in my bios successfully.................. very very THANK YOU
