Thanks to HANOUI user who captured my attention I decided to open this thread so that people who want to download a bios for VM will find it here.

- Motherboard and Manufacter Model : All that can run VMware
- Bios Revision = All you can imagine
- Bios Type = PHOENIX
- Bios SLIC = ACER,ASUS,DELL,GATEWAY,HP,LENOVO,NEC,SONY.
- Bios Modder = Hanoui
- Bios Link = http://www.pirateshare.net/?id=11831688

To call the modded bios you have to edit *.vmx config-file:

Add this line using notepad at the beginning to call modified bios:
bios440.filename = "VMWAREBIOS_SLIC.ROM"

Hi China4Ever,

It seems that Dell and Lenovo bios fail when you try to activate Vista.:(

And just a few thing :
adding the line bios440.filename = "VMWAREBIOS_SLIC.ROM", will cause Vmware fail to boot because it don't find the good path of the bios.

It will be more that :

Add this line using notepad at the beginning to call modified bios:

bios440.filename = "C:\mybios.rom"

Eventually change the path to where you have copied mybios.rom

Could you edit your post ?

Thanks, :)

Hanoui.

If you don't add path to the value VMWare will be looking in virtual machine home folder. You can simply place the custom bios there.

I have cracked BIOS from VirtualPC (tnx to Yen for his static v3 tut).
I used ACER slic but i have a little trouble...ACER slic don't works with VISTA BUSINESSN (i have mistake the vista install!). I don't have much time to create a new virtual install. Is there someone that have a working serial to install and activate a BUSINESSN using ACER SLIC??
Soon i'll put virtualPC exe cracked here ;)

Could somebody do me a favor and merge the bios into vmware-vmx.exe for me?

Here is the ROM that works when I edit Windows Vista.vmx, but doesn't when I add it to vmware-vmx.exe :(

On a side note, how did you go about translating "Award Super Static Method Editing Tools" app?

Oh, and the "Yihuajiemu" seems to have once been a website as far as I can tell.

Sorry, I don't have one for Hyper-V (isn't that part of server 2008?).

......On a side note, how did you go about translating "Award Super Static Method Editing Tools" app?......
This is how I translated it.

Open awardslic.exe with XN resource editor. Click on "RC Data" then "TFORM1" then "Language Neutral" on the left hand pane.
On the right hand pane, it should look something like this:

object Form1: TForm1
Left = 252
Top = 115
BorderIcons = [biSystemMenu, biMinimize]
BorderStyle = bsSingle
Caption = 'Award'#36229#32423#38745#24577#27861#20462#25913# 24037#20855
ClientHeight = 564
ClientWidth = 527
Color = clBtnFace
Font.Charset = GB2312_CHARSET
Font.Color = clWindowText
Font.Height = -12
Font.Name = #23435#20307

I copied the items highlighted in red and pasted it into Google translate.
I then inserted "&" before each instance of the "#" character so that it looked like this

&# 36229&# 32423&# 38745&# 24577&# 27861&# 20462&# 25913&# 24037&# 20855
(Remove the spaces. I had to put the spaces in there as vBulletin
converts them to Chinese characters)

Choose Chinese to English and click translate.
Scroll down and repeat this procedure to the other similar items and that's it.

@ urie, I have translated the whole thing but some may need better translations. The error your getting my be from the apostrophe (') surrounding the text, I used notepad and the apostrophe (') in there is different then the apostrophe(') in XN resource editor.

Here are the lines I changed below. :D

"Not found the kernel library or the kernel library is invalid"

TheOneAndOnly
08-16-2008, 10:53 AM
What is BOXP49.exe from? :confused:

On a side note, I found where the BIOS is located in Hyper-V and it has a SLIC table built in. It's called (vmwp.exe) but when I attempt to change it and then replace with the modified version of the file in Server 2008 it hangs on booting a virtual machine right at the BIOS. I used XN resource editor to do the removal and insertion then using WinHex to change the SLIC.

I then searched for the occurrence of these characters in WinHex and I found an occurence here.

Anyone have a working link to the VMware bios? Not the Virtual PC, but the VMware. Unless there's no difference. I'm assuming there is though. The zshare link doesn't seem to work correctly. It acts like it's still hosted, but after you wait the time limit to download and click the download link, it just starts the process over. It won't let me actually download a file. If any could provide a working link, I'd greatly appreciate it.

That's twice now that you've helped me. Much thanks. :) I didn't get a chance to install the gigabyte bios you gave me yesterday, but hopefully tomorrow. I wanted the vmware bios because I like to keep a safe environment to test in thats as close to my main system as possible(setup wise, obviously a vm is different hardware wise). Thanks again. I have to say this has been a pretty friendly board from what I've seen so far.

Both the x86 and x64 installers install the same Virtual PC.exe. The only difference is 32bit vs 64bit drivers if i'm not wrong. So the posted files will work fine for 64bit as well.

I've verified the MD5 checksum to be the same for both Virtual PC.exe.

I don't know what version they are for but I found they don't work with vmware 6.5.2, but if you follow the guide for pheonix mod your own bios (extract it first). It's definitely a different bios in vmw 6.5.2, there are a lot more acpi roms when extracted (13 compared to 3 or 4 in those bios' listed/linked to
