If I have a BIOS modded for XP activation (ASUS) as it says here http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=107

You need ASUS OEM CD or make your own download ASUS OEM files from this page http://www.xrm-ms.net/and add then to windows xp i386 folder, these files ar unpacked you will need to compress them first before adding to you windows cd you can use this utility called expander get it here.

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=82191

you can use one of the keys posted here:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457078.aspx

What about XP prof. VLK (corp edition 32 bit)?

Do you have to replace PIDGEN.DLL, Setupreg.hiv and SETUPP.INI as well?

Can somebody upload those three files from a xp professional (ASUS) OEM, please?

Together with the four oem.bin /.dat /.cat/.sig this are seven corp-files!!

Edit: If you want to cange VLK to OEM you have to edit / replace SETUPP.INI. VLK ends with PID 270, OEM with OEM and retail with 335!!
I don't know if you have to replace PIDGEN.DLL and setupreg.hiv

Its got to be an OEM CD or a standard XP disk with the OEM data added - you can't use a VLK version for OEM activation.

I got a copy of an XP 9in1 CD that allows you to create an ISO of any version. I created an ISO of XPPro OEM and replaced the OEM files with HP ones. I have BIOS modded with a HP Slic1 and I did a straight install from my newly created OEM CD. No need for activation and XP passes validation because MS think my box is a preinstalled HP Pavillion :)

The steps to do this are:

Files Needed From A Original HP Pro or Home OEM XP Install:

C:\Windows\system32\
OEMBIOS.BIN
OEMBIOS.DAT
OEMBIOS.SIG

C:\Windows\system32\Catroot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}
OEMBIOS.CAT

Create a bootable HP SLP XP SP2 PRO OEM CD:

Step 1: CD Source

A: Get a clean XP Pro retail or OEM CD/Image preferably with SP2.
B. Copy the entire contents of the CD to a folder called "OEM" on your harddrive.

Step 2: Convert The Retail XP to HP PRO OEM SLP

A. Create a SETUPP.INI and OOBEINFO.INI files.

Create a empty text file and copy the info below inside, save changes, and rename to SETUPP.INI

B. Create a WINNT.SIF Setup answer file.

[B]Step 3: Compress the hardrive OEMBIOS and OOBEINFO.INI Files

The 4 OEMBIOS and OOBEINFO.INI files need to be compressed using MAKECAB in command prompt.

Open a command prompt and "CD" your way to the folder that contains the files you copied and created and type each command below followed by the Enter key:

MAKECAB OEMBIOS.BIN
MAKECAB OEMBIOS.CAT
MAKECAB OEMBIOS.DAT
MAKECAB OEMBIOS.SIG
MAKECAB OOBEINFO.INI

Files will be compressed with the names of:

OEMBIOS.BI_
OEMBIOS.CA_
OEMBIOS.DA_
OEMBIOS.SI_
OOBEINFO.IN_

Step 4: Copying HP files to XP Source

Copy the compressed files above along with WINNT.SIF and SETUPP.INI inside the I386 folder that contains the retail cd contents - overwrite the originals.

Step 5: Burn the files to a Disk

Create a bootable XP Cd from the source files on your harddrive (google is your friend if you don't know how to do this).

That's it! You've got a brand new Royalty OEM disk for a HP computer ;)

Note: The product key is supplied by MS for all preinstalls and is the same on every OEM PC. See this for further info: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457078.aspx

..................you can't use a VLK version for OEM activation.........

Hi,
thanks a lot for reply. It has to be possible to use VLK since you can make a VLK using a retail version. Therefore you have to copy the "corp.-files" into a retail version.

Conclusion: You need the original retail files again to redo, which are:

DPCDLL.DL_
OEMBIOS.BI_
OEMBIOS.CA_
OEMBIOS.DA_
OEMBIOS.SI_
PIDGEN.DLL
SETUPP.INI
SETUPREG.HIV

Please can someone upload them from a xp-SP2 pro retail or even a Asus oem. (Except the oembios files, which you may replace by yourself.)

So you need additionally
DPCDLL.DL_
PIDGEN.DLL
SETUPREG.HIV

Thanks

Yes, you are right. Using a retail version is the better way. But it's just to figure it out if it will work using a VLK or not....

The final steps to make a clean OEM_SLP1.0 installation (without any OEM spam **** or trial licenses junk) from a VOLUME LICENSE!

There are a lot of rumors and false instructions.

Create the SETUPP.INI as described.
Create the WINNT.SIF for a unattended install as described. (If you want to use it)
NO NEED OF OOBEINFO.INI leave it untouched.

Get the
OEMBIOS.BIN
OEMBIOS.DAT
OEMBIOS.SIG

from your OEM installation and compress them as described, or use them right from your OEM_CD!

LEAVE THE OEMBIOS.CA_ UNTOUCHED!! I have to thank xfilz for that info. :)

Get the:
DPCDLL.DL_
PIDGEN.DLL

from your OEM installation and replace all 5 of them.
Replace the SETUPP.INI as well , add the WINNT.SIF if needed.

Done!

All other instructions are useless or too much!

Use only valid licenses.

Are the following two files available in SP2, or do I have to source a download link? If so, does anyone have these files available?

DPCDLL.DL_
PIDGEN.DLL

------------------------------

Kind of answered my own question. You can find these files in SP2

Rename IPSELPID.DLL to PIDGEN.DLL and IPSELDPC.DL_ to DPCDLL.DL_

To avoid any issues DON'T replace the OEMBIOS.CAT!!!

Almost everywhere it is stated to replace it!

I have to thank xfilz for that info. :)

BTW: Second link seems to be dead!

About the PID: Just replace the last 3 characters of your Retail or VLK Version you want to convert to OEM_SLP with OEM. Done. No need to confuse about the languages.

If you have more information on XP Home VOL without activation, it will be a very interesting topic to continue at forums.mydigitallife.

Please read the old MSFN Forum thread from year 2005: http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t55725.html

Test your ENGLISH XP pid install version with Joshua tool found here: http://www.drowaelder.de/winpe/keyfinder-pe/keyfinder-pe.cab
Read http://www.911cd.net/forums//lofiversion/index.php?t19537-0.html & pray keyfinder-pe will be updated for mydigitallife purposes...:o

I don't believe you can make a VOL for Windows XP Home Edition without need for activation. Volume Lisence Keys are meant for large corporations, why would a company buy Home, when they would obviously need domain support? Most people who have Home Corp really have a hacked version of Home that removes the need to activate. If you can make the VRMHVOL_EN please post details here!

These PID numbers are identical to WiNBETA's Corpfiles for XP Pro VOL.

But if you actually did make the Windows XP Home Volume... Wow
it's good contribution to this XP "off-topic" Mod Question thread:D

Thanx:)

you can make a xp home vlk cd i done it years ago you just need to copy windows xp pro vlk files over to Windows XP Home Edition i386 folder, the 8 Corporate Files for are (setupreg.hiv, setupp.ini, pidgen.dll, dpcdll.dl_, oembios.ca_, oembios.da_, oembios.bi_ and oembios.si_) which are all in the i386 folder you may need to edit the pid number it was that long ago i cant remember, plus you need a working pro vlk key.

Rename IPSELPID.DLL to PIDGEN.DLL and IPSELDPC.DL_ to DPCDLL.DL_
I'm assuming when you extract the SP3 you will find the SP3 versions as well.

I have successfully made a OEM XP Pro with SP3 CD with Yen's directions with slight modifications. I think it is important to note that the necessary files should be acquired as a set. Also, I used an untouched XP Pro with SP3 image to make my OEM CD. Here is the link for a HP OEMBIOS files as a set.

http://rapidshare.com/files/103440403/HP.rar

If you insist on using your VOL CD to make your OEM CD, try again using the files from the above link. If you are still unsuccessful, I would acquire an untouched XP Pro with SP3 image and start from there. The untouched image can be had from torrent sites.

Thanks for your suggestions reginakampher . I did manage to make a OEM HP cd . I got the XP pro retail sp3 image (en_windows_xp_professional_with_service_pack_3_x8 6_cd_x14-80428.iso)
I also downloaded an hp cd and took the pidgen and the dpcdll from it, added the winnt.sif , setupp.ini,eombios.bin,oembios.sig,oembios.dat to the clean xp sp3 retail image (together with the pidgen and dpcdll ) after successful installation windows is activated.

xfilz , i think (I would NOT use IPSELPID.DLL to PIDGEN.DLL and IPSELDPC.DL_ to DPCDLL.DL_.....) that the files from the sp3 dont do the job. thank you anyways for your suggestions . Now I can say that it works

So the suggestion of:

and my suggestion to get them from SP3 seem not to work. At least for the SP3 files....

Ok.

Hehe, best is always to test by myself.

I did a byte to byte comparisson of a working PIDGEN.DLL and service pack3.
Also of a working DPCDLL.DL_ and the files of SP3.

Guess what?

The right files for a OEM activation are found at expanded SP3 at \sp3\i386\ip folder.

The VOL license versions of both files are probably found at \sp3\i386\iC folder.

The info of genetix is wrong. Both files to be renamed are different, also I asummed it wrong of course!

The needed files can be obtained from \sp3\i386\ip folder, definitely!

There are these two files (pidgen.dll and dpcdll.dl_) in the " IP " folder of the expanded xp sp3. So there is nothing to rename then , just take them as they are and one should be ready to go. Excellent ,thanks again Yen. .Oh !! I have a question , do you think this method would work with Win2k3 ??.

I never worked with WIN2K3. AFAIK there is no SLP activation which asks for a special string at physical memory.
Is there a WPA at all? Or do you just need a right key?

There is already a thread on the subject for the Win2K3 OEM Files.
the advice from Yen with XP dpcdll from sp3 was really smart idea:D

Hope you find the answers to your problem. I didnt work with win2k3 before,
but it seems like you just need a dmi editor for bios string Hewlett-Packard.
I believe you know this, and making a HP disk for Win2K3 seems easy enough...

Have to use Server 2003 files. You wont need to make an Asus disk anyway. Just change your bios string to Hewlett-Packard and create a disk using the HP set i already posted.

Anybody managed to get Asus OEM CD working?

Thanks for help guys & girlz

ASUS_FLASH string is not valid at DMI area. Therefore you need a biosmod, or another OEM such as HP, which is valid at DMI area!

No,
Yen said that DMI area is :

F0000h-F1000h

But ASUS slp range is :

'f000','c000','3fff','ASUS_FLASH'

So if you put 'ASUS_FLASH' in DMI area, this not work. Put on another string like "HP" that work in DMI area or mod your bios !

I see my HP OEM guide i made years ago is still being used..kool.

I also saw in another thread about not using OEMBIOS.CAT. Ive always added OEMBIOS.CAT and NEVER had any "issues" activating. The CRC values they use on the MSFN site are from each OEMBIOS.CAT so why would they do that if each isnt of any importance as a matching set?

you can't use a VLK version for OEM activation

If you mean this as converting a vlk source to a oem disk.. it can be done. Ive converted the Vortex VLK iso to OEM Pro a few times as i liked the modded shell files. The only differnce from a VLK and Retail disk are the "corp files" and the SETUPP.INI settings that im sure everyone is aware of.

If you can convert a Retail Pro disk to a VLK disk then you can certainly convert it back to retail by reversing the steps and then just add the needed OEMBIOS files and SLP keys for PRO OEM edition along with setting up the SETUPP.INI file.

If I have a BIOS modded for XP activation (ASUS) as it says here http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showthread.php?t=107

Do I need an XP OEM install CD from ASUS or can I use any XP CD and just use the OEM keys?
If you burn the disk to your HDD you will find a file called setupp.ini. You can even mod it to not ask for a number.
I use the same cd for everything. I even get through activation. MS has a serial number changer on thir site for ITs. Look for Winternals and Systrernals. The prog is called "newsid.exe". Then you may need another activation but, when you'e through all the updates work.
Of course, I have a paid license for all of these short cuts I do.

@yen

The OEM oembios.* files are sets. They must be used together and with the appropriate bios string present in the bios or bios emulation if done in VMware. The OEMBIOS files contain an encrypted list of strings and memory ranges. example: In the case of Dell, WPA searches a particular portion of the BIOS for "Dell Computer", "Dell Inc", or "Dell System".
=====
Service pack files in i386\ip are for pro
Service pack files in i386\ic are for home
=====
PID is in the SETUPP.INI and tells what Version of disc and level of software revision the disc came with. I would recommend keeping a disc with a pid starting in 5 with a pid starting in 5 and a pid starting in 7 with a pid starting in 7 also do not mix home with pro. Use this as a guide:
http://wiki.djlizard.net/Product_IDs
Good luck finding the right Extra data. (hint: ask someone who has the right OEM disk revision, doesn't matter from what manufacturer, to read you thiers.)

example: Disc type \ Disc name \ product rev \ product type
Windows XP Home Volume SP1\ XRMHVOL_EN\ 55274\ 270
=> would change to
Windows XP Home OEM SP1\ XRMHOEM_EN\ 55277\ OEM

The Extra Data should match the PID you are switching to as well:

[Pid]
ExtraData=6376796F71737A76767385CA66F124
Pid=55277OEM

Notice that this information is used in generating the product ID and MAY be used to identify the product for applying the appropriate updates. I would think you would want that to happen correctly!

HP
Windows XP Home Edition
55277-OEM-0011903-00106

P.S. I've been following your career through several different forums and you have helped me with what you have learned/explained too.

Thanks.

I have the modded bios's for my (soon to arrive) Asus P5Q Deluxe mobo. There have been modded as follows
SLP1 : ASUS_FLASH
SLP2 : ASUS
For Vista i will use VOATK same as for current mobo.

For XP the Asus OEMBIOS pack is complete, ready to copy, the Asus_flash OEMBIOS pack just has the four files and even though i have spent hours searching i am still confused about the exact method.
Hence will the Asus OEMBIOS work on Asus_flash, or must it be the OEMBIOS pack specific to Asus_flash?

Will these OEMBIOS packs work on XP Pro x64 as long as i change the product key.

Yes the two oembios pack files for ASUS work with ASUS_FLASH string. Yes This works for x86 & x64.

Just one word : NO
Why : ASUS_FLASH string can't be put in DMI area (limit of ASUS range)
Solution : use Hewlett-Packard oemfiles

This is great info, thanks.
I'm wondering though, when you replace system files like that, what happens if you run System File Checker, i mean sfc /scannow, wouldn't Windows File Protection pick it up?

Yes, you need to change files in %systemroot%\system32\dllcache
You also need to change OEMBIOS.CAT to keep a clean certificate table.

Hmm,OEMBIOS.CAT is the one file that Yen recommends to be untouched/not replaced on a VLK when making it OEM?
(As you can see in my quoted post)
OEMBIOS.CAT obviosly contains the certificate validating the 3 remaining OEMBIOS files.(like for a driver)
So the recommendation not to replace this one is a mystery to me?

When making a fresh install, obviously the dll cache has to be built from the
files on the CD,hence there is nothing to replace,as those files have already
been switched.
That's why i wonder about Windows File Protection.
Would a PIDGEN.DLL from another build set it off?

Ok.
I just downloaded the Retail XPPRO SP3 English
md5:f424a52153e6e5ed4c0d44235cf545d5
Ran the OEMBIOS.EXE earlier to verify my modded bios to CRC32:B20C65BF
Downloaded the corresponding file from http://www.oembios.net/.
Extracted it's content (4 files) and ran MAKECAB on e'm.
Injected into image and changed the SETUPP.INI to:

[Pid]
ExtraData=786F687170637175716954806365EF
Pid=55274OEM

Added the Generic OEM serial:MVF4D-W774K-MC4VM-QY6XY-R38TB
to WINNT.SIF

While i were at it, I also added the Windows XP Post-SP3 Update Pack
V1.0.3 from RyanVM's.
Works wonders!
Ran oobe/msoobe /a and it's 100% activated :D
I did use OEMBIOS.CAT that came with the B20C65BF download i might add. No issues at all.
