Man I gotta tell ya....this OS is so good, it's almost sick. x86 responsiveness feels very similar to Vista x64. Everything about it is just so right. Can't wait to try x64.

the integrated "send feedback" everywhere in beta 9656 gives me some personal troubles...kinda annoying, if you ask me.
hope the "real" beta M1 has just a link on the destop :D

Based on the articles I have read, the "real" beta should out by mid January. I went back to 6801 - 64bit, I like that build a lot more.

this build was not supposed to be distributed anyway. So maybe there is no way to activate it. If the rearms trick still work, we will have enough time until the public beta.

Plus it allows 5 (!) rearms... which may extend your trial periods up to 180 days...

I would love to use this, but even the 6801 version doesn't like my system and has no drivers for the internet :(
I will have to wait for gigabyte or realtek to bring out some beta drivers!

Actually, 6801 gave me more fits than 6956. What it didn't load natively, it found on WU. First time EVER I've had all of the bases covered out of the box. I even managed to install my finicky Remote Wonder. I suppose it'll be a different story with the x64 version.

I use XP drivers for my sound and wireless network card on Vista & Win 7

I am sticking with (Build 6081) for now. I have it activated until 2nd Aug. 2009 and its running faultlessly in all departments.

Hello from germany,
I have also downloaded this files and they all say 6801. Date of the files is the 14.09.2008. It seems this is the PDC build.
You can also find this version in different newsgroups but they all say 6801.
Greetings
Thomas

jdoshier and JamesBrown2, the build number shown is indeed the PDC build, this is because the ISO has been made from the VHD image. It was brought back to clean defaults with sysprep and a new install.wim was made and used to replace the install.wim on the pdc build. Maybe you should read up (http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/12/07/download-windows-7-pre-beta-build-6956-setup-installation-dvd-iso-image-torrent/) before you post comments. Just check the build number after install. I for one am glad matrixbk shared the rs links with us.

Thank you for clarifying the issue, as well as for so eloquently putting me in my place.
And, thank you matrixbk for sharing the links :)

thank you matrixbk for links.
Why does it have Build 6801 on the install screen?
:)
Cause they used the boot.wim from 6801
