ASUS P5B-VM DO INTEL MOTHERBOARD
VISTA ACTIVATED SUCCESSFULLY!
Modded by: The_PaperBoy
http://rapidshare.com/files/32849048/P5BVMDA.ROM.html

Alot of jumping through hoops to get this working right, but thankz to The_PaperBoy from Keznews for all the help.

1. SAVE the above file to the main directory of a USB FLASH DRIVE and INSERT it into the PC and SHUTDOWN the PC.
2. From SHUTDOWN state and using a PS/2 Keyboard, hold down the CTRL and HOME keys simultaneously until you see the PC doing a COMPLETE BIOS REPLACEMENT.
3. After replacing the original BIOS, download the latest BIOS from ASUS here: http://dlsvr03.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket775/P5B-VM%20DO/P5BVMDO0613.zip
Rename it to P5BVMDA.ROM and flash the PC with either EZ-FLASH in the BIOS, AFUDOS in DOS, or ASUSUPDATE in Windows.
4. Now change all the settings in the BIOS to meet your configuration needs and all is well.
5. Install your OEM License file the normal way and change your product key to the desired version of Vista.
ENJOY!

Thankz, Take Carez and Laterz,

WarriorOfStormz

PS - I tried several different ways, but this is the only way it worked for me.

Both Acer Travelmate 4002 WLMi and ASUS A7V600-x bios flashed OK, Vista Ultimate 32bit x86 installed, activated and passed Windows Genuine Advantage authentication. You can post them on the verified bios list.

PS: if you have a tutorial of how the licences can be slipstreamed into Vista install DVD please send me a link so I can put up .iso on the net.

Hi There

Have tried you mod BIOS, it seems to not work. The steps I took are that I flashed BIOS, installed VISTA without key, installed ASUS certificate, changed key to the ASUS Vista Ultimate Key, and then got error message "A problem occurred when windows tried to activate. Error Code 0xc004e004".

Same problem :(
My won't boot anymore once i flash with this bios (like the one from Xbioses). I had to recover my bios with the boot block feature (glad my motherboard got it).

Any idea what could be wrong by chance ?! How come your bioses for the Neo and Neo2 versions work great and the platinum goes wrong ? Maybe we should try 1.3 instead of 1.4 ?!

Thanks

Try this new one please. http://rapidshare.com/files/33152351/4CoreDual-VSTA_1.70__SLIC.zip.html

I found a new modding method, so please try this new modded bios.

As this bios has a particular structure, I suggest you to use AFUDOS /ixxxx.rom /pbnc /n (where xxxx is your bios file name) as syntax.

If it doesn't work, I'll tell you alternative procedure for having SLIC tables correcly listed.

china thnx for your great work modding the various bios. :)

however after i flashed this one i get a "corrupted bootblock error" when booting, luckily this board has the nice Crash Free Bios so i can recover to a working bios if there's any problems.

btw flashing with afudos was a no-no for me, it just doesn't complete the flash process properly. i had to use the boards built in Ez-Flash system to flash the bios.

any ideas?

Your slic table is showing up, have you imported the asus digital certificate?

copy the certificate to the root directory of your C:

then with UAC disabled go to a command prompt and type SLMGR.VBS -ilc C:\ASUS.XRM-MS

then change the key to an asus key

bingo!

I speak too soon, with this bios I can't go to sleep mode and go back with the original f5 bios all is ok. Can you try and remod it with DELL SLIC please. I forgot to mention it.

Also I think that if there's any error in a modded bios here then the original modder should edit the post and say so, in order for no other accidental flashing.

Since I'm new to this forum I'd like to introduce myself, I'm Xcelsion
(not my real name of offcource) I'm from The netherlands. And I'm 17 years old

now, my problem:

I have a ASUS A8V Deluxe mobo
and it's bios type is AMI

I have tried to modify it's bios myself, but just couldn't quite figre out how

So I tought I just download one, and so I did.
From : http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/02/21/sla-20-supported-bioses-for-instant-windows-vista-oem-activation/comment-page-35/

There are 2 bios downloads for A8V deluxe motherboards, and both are from Niko76 the first one doesn't seem to work since after the flash it doesn't show the SLIC table in everest. The second one however,... doesn't work at all !

After flashing the second one, my mobo wouldn't boot anymore, I did not even get to hear those tres annoying beeps !

after performing a hotswap with my brothers pc my system is back to normal agen.

but,.. I still do not have a bios that has the SLIC table for my ASUS A8V deluxe

So: I'd like to have a modified bios (one that hopefully doesn't brick my pc  ) (even tough I can hotswap, I'd rather not. Just to prevent any un-neded damage to either mine or my brothers pc )

original bios file : http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socket939/a8v-deluxe/A8V-ASUS-Deluxe-1017.zip

I'd like to have the ASUS certificate thing.

thanks in advance :)

Hi,

I´ve had a look on those bioses, IMO they are modded correctly (Two different methods). Xbioses is modded with super static method and China4Evers with adding slic into 1b module. If the original ver 1.40 is working, mods should work, too! Reflash to original 1.40 and check if there are any problems, maybe 1.40 works inproperly with your config.

I don´t know if afudos and afud408 are the same flash tools.
As long as you are able to recover you may play around. Try using original afudos with given syntax, first.

Anyway if the older original version works too, you should request to mod it and try again.

Well then, why you asked for a modded bios ??? If you don't trust me, don't ask and don't downloading it. I can't understand people like you. I hate to waste my time for nothing. :mad:I'm very sorry if I insulted you. I will try it and report back, but after the LAN party tonight ;)

I appreciate your work and hope all goes well. Plus, I think my mobo has a rollback for bad bios flash.

- I flashed the BIOS to the INTEL-AMI (NON-OEM) using Intel Recovery however I lose video and CPU fan runs at max all the time when enabled
- Flashed it BACK to the Gateway OEM (AMI) BIOS

I think you were right when you suggested modding the Gateway version is not possable.
Thought of trying to flash to this version from Intel website : 0069.P21 but do not want to fry the board with all this flashing !

Try to run HW Direct, click on "Memory Dump", then select as mem address FFF00000 and as hex size put 100000 and click on "Dump". Then select all and paste it as ASCII-HEX with Winhex (simply create a new file of 1 bytes ant then press CTRL-V and it will increase size pasting hwdirect dump), then save it and upload it on rapidshare and I'll take a look, maybe so it can be modded.

(It's the same size as the one posted on this site so I doubt it matters)

Here's some info for people who might be in a similar situation when MS detects your softmod. Here's a step by step (not counting my problem at first) All steps taken with admin. privileges.

Vista has been counting down for about a week since it detected the Vista loader softmod.

#1.I uninstalled the softmod using Voatk Tools 2.2 (Google It).Rebooted.
I flashed my BIOS with the modded version graciously provided by China4Ever.
Rebooted again.

#2.From command prompt type slmgr -upk
This uninstalls your product Key

#3.Type slmgr -rilc
This re-installs the default system license files

#4.Now drop your OEM SLIC file to C:\ for simplicity's sake.
(mine was ASUS.xrm.ms so i'll use it as an example)

#5.At the command prompt type slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\ASUS.xrm.ms
This installs the SLIC.

#6.Now type slmgr.vbs -ipk xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx
(X represents the OEM product key associated with your SLIC,Mine was an ASUS key)

Thats it from Dell softmod to Genuine ASUS OEM.It's a beautiful thing:)

Thanks to everyone on this site who has put in work to help people out they don't even know. This is the first noob friendly site I've come across in a while. It seems that the universal hatred of Microsoft brings us together.

Do you have any ideas how to bypass this ACPI problem? I'd like to install Vista on this laptop.

Hey guys, I wanted to let you know that i successfully added a dell slic to my asus A8V deluxe bios, in the first place I was using china4ever his bios with an asus slic. but that one didn't work, I figred that it was probably due to the fact that I used a dell vista install cd.

after re-modding the bios with a dell slic and using the dell cd key that came with the CD it worked perfectly :D
