Microtek Scanmaker 4800 Windows XP Driver also works with Windows Vista. I am using this scanner with Windows Vista these days....
Steps:
1) Download and install "ScanWizard 5 version 6.30" from this link
http://support.microtek.com/downloads/drv_specific.phtml?cnntn=c&slct_os=8&step=2&prod=12&byctgy=1&drvgrp=409&x=13&y=7
2) Go to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager and Click on Scan for Hardware Changes under Action Menu. Vista will search and install the driver for you.
Goodluck !!

I have no idea if the software mentioned above will work with your scanner, but from the posts above:
drv_sw5_v6_30_ad.exe appears to be the file name of the file you are looking for.( Microtek ScanWizard 5 version 6.30 )
ftp://ftp.microtek.com/microtek/pcfiles/drv_sw5_v6_30_ad.exe
If it was me I'd:
1: Read thru the FAQ, posted and linked to below.
2: Try a FTP client
3: PM /e-mail someone who maybe has the file.
4: Contact the mfg directly- having them maybe e-mail you the file;)
5: Run a google search- I did so and found several people who have posted recently they have "downloaded" the file, here's one dated Tue Jun 26, 2007 4:45 pm

Excerpt Tue Jun 26, 2007 4:45 pm:
subject: Microsoft Windows Vista Enterprise Installation ( 5 of ??)
We then installed a MicroTeck 4800 Scanner. We had to download a new driver package (the ScanWizard 5 version 6.30, for Windows XP) for it from MicroTek (http://support.microtek.com/downloads), but the new version is drastically better than the old and worked perfectly from the point we installed it.

You might be able to get them to e-mail you a copy.
PS: NOTE that once you GET the file, you might want to consider UPLOADING it somewhere (to a couple of the driver sites on the net) for the benefit of those later on who may be looking for it.
Example, picked at random:
http://www.opendrivers.com/
Hey- While going thru some of my links to find examples of places you might be able to UPLOAD the file to once you find it I found this link after running a search.
http://www.findfiles.com/ (type in drv_sw5_v6_30_ad.exe into the search box)
It brings up the Microtek ftp site link- Plus another that "might" help.
(File properties once downloaded saying Getright downloader in the properties tab)http://www.findfiles.com/download-drv_sw5_v6_30_ad.exe?url=ftp%3A%2F%2Fftp%2Emicrote k%2Ecom%2Fmicrotek%2Fpcfiles%2Fdrv_sw5_v6_30_ad%2E exe&size=17844691
Best of luck to you-
I too have run across files being N/A / links not working from the mfg... and I only found them via a search of the file name...
(Translation: When you post a link- if the link itself doesn't have the file name take a moment to cut and paste the file name into the body of your post.)
Example:
Microtek ScanWizard 5 version 6.30 = drv_sw5_v6_30_ad.exe
Remember people when posting links to mention in the BODY of your POST the file name of the file when you link to something as links go stale all the time

From the Microtek site:
Missing links or cannot seem to download?
http://support.microtek.com/tech_faqs_5.phtml?pge=15&slnk=4#0
Q I am having difficulty downloading files from the Microtek USA Support Website.
A If you cannot seem to find a link in the Driver Downloads page to start the download, you may have an "Ad Blocking" program running in your computer. You need to temporarily disable the "Ad Blocking" feature of this program to be able to see the link(s). We have instructions on how to disable "Ad blocking" in Norton Internet Security. If you have the same software, you can follow these instructions to turn off "Ad blocking". For all other programs, consult the user manual.
If the download takes a long time to start or if you end up receiving a "Page not Found" error, you need to make sure that your internet connection and/or browser is able to conduct FTP transactions outside. Majority of the customers who cannot download drivers from the Support Website have a firewall or proxy server on their network that prevent them from conducting FTP transactions. Check the programs located on the lower right corner of your screen next to the time (for Windows users) if there are firewall programs running. Also, you can try and set your Network to use Passive FTP Mode (PASV).
To use Passive FTP Mode in Macintosh OS X:
1. Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network > Proxies
2. Check the option "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)"
To use Passive FTP Mode in Microsoft Windows:
1. Go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced
2. Check the option "Use Passive FTP"

Why not use Vuescan it works with virtually every scanner there is and it is a superb scan app.
Not only that it can make profiles for you for color management this is an overlooked and very useful aspect of the app.
Give it a try it won't cost you anything for a free 30 day trial or there are copies around in the "scene".:)

Vuescan may indeed be a option, Great program that has worked on all the scanners I've used with it.
http://www.hamrick.com
Little "tip"...
When I scan for example a book, what you will want to do is set up your parameters, then go to FILE>SAVE OPTIONS.
What that does is SAVE your settings. (creates a .INI file)
What I do is to SAVE the ini in the FOLDER of the book I'm scanning, giving it the same name as the book..
book_name.ini
(Good idea also make a copy in the Vuescan Program directory giving it a CUSTOM name, marking it READ-ONLY- so it doesn't get overwritten!! - Either that or make a copy of the Default.ini- marking it READ-ONLY..)
I do this because from time to time the program may go "crazy". (hard to explain=doesn't do it all the time, just every once and a while the colors? get inverted, everything gets screwed up)
If you've made a copy of the INI, you can revert back to it by going to FILE> LOAD options.

Question: One feature the OEM /bundled programs may support are "one-button" scanning.... (using a hot key, OR button on the scanner..).
For anyone that has used Vuescan... Have you ever heard of a way to set-up a "hot-key"? (e.g.= Hit the spacebar to start scan /or mouse button)
When I scan a book, it is a pain to have to move the mouse over to the preview button each time.
That being said Vuescan is a great program.

Have you tried the above drivers/programs linked to above... read thru the links posted?
PS: On "Vista" drivers.... try the XP ones... if they don't work more than likely you will be looking at buying a new scanner "if" your scanners are older models.
What does the mfg recommend?

Don't know if this link has any info, but it's got a lot of good info... a tie in with the below in my mind is the cost of any hardware that may have to be replaced... in addition to the DRM el-****-ola in Vista... The coming of "subscription" based push $$$$$ software that MS has planned..
Cost Analysis of Windows Vista
