Hi,

there youīll find a tutorial to mod Phoenix bioses. If you are interested youīll find instructions for AMI and Award, too. (At the end of thread)

To mod Phoenix bioses you need Phoenix bios editor 2.1. or higher.
Check thread:

Translate chinese into english using google.

that translation does not help much. it confuses you in the major steps. I have read it over and over again, and still confused as to what the steps are. Can't anyone do a simple good translation of that information?

tnx for the link but english translation is difficult to understand. i managed to modify slic table but vista didn't activate. maybe i should modify rsdt table also?

Yes of course you have to modify RSDT table (and XSDT), too. (like Award bioses) The problem is that all tut. are from china. I had the same problem to understand AMI and Award. But itīs possible to manage it. It is a risk of bricking mobo, ...but no risk, no fun....For more informatios you can check www.vistafans.com (thread Vista bug)..Itīs chinese, too....

Best to manage: Download a original bios and a working mod for interest and compare them. You will see how itīs done and together with a translated tutorial itīs possible to reproduce (so I did)

this is what i made:
1) open bios.wph with Phoenix BIOS Editor v2.1.0.0
2) copy file with slic table (eg ACPI5.ROM) in Phoenix BIOS Editor\TEMP that contains dissassembled/extracted bios.wph
3) open rom.scr with notepad and add a line eg. "ACPI ACPI5.ROM"
4) open BIOSCOD1.ROM with a text/hex editor
5) search for "RSDT" string
6) overwrite string next to "RSDT" with ACRSYSACRPRDCT and save
7) to enable save button (now is gray) change something random in Phoenix BIOS Editor and restore its original value
8) save bios and check log for errors

i hope is clearer to understand than google' chinese to english translation since i'm italian so i could make some mistakes :p

at 6) be careful!!!!. Thatīs NOT RIGHT and worked accidental, cause next to RSDT there are 4 table length bytes!! You just have to edit OEM table ID matching with corresponding OEM (SLIC). FIRST POSITION TO EDIT IS AT OFFSET A NOT BEFORE!!!!

E. g. if you use asus slic oem table id is _ASUS_Notebook

COMPARE A MODDED BIOS WITH ORIGINAL TO AVOID MISTAKES!!!
Check http://forums.mydigitallife.info/showpost.php?p=2645&postcount=2247 for additional informations.

that's the meaning of string next to ;)

_ASUS_Notebook doesn't work so i used ACRSYSACRPRDCT

COMPARE A MODDED BIOS WITH ORIGINAL TO AVOID MISTAKES!!!

it's what i've done with a30

I think not. Dell has got special bioses. Is it a Phoenix bios? They usually end with .wph or .rom . Some of them got a Phoenix core.

I searched in the bios and found Copyright 1985-....8 Phoenix Technologies Ltd. ./..8-2005 Dell Inc...A...O.1.reserved

i uploaded the rom to http://rapidshare.com/files/43045080/I6000A09.rar.html if it's worth checking out

I am trying to install Microsoft 7 (and GET OUT of Vista). Naturally nothing can be easy and I've run into a series of problems.

-- I downloaded microsoft 7 from the microsoft online store
-- I can't complete the setup process until I update the BIOS -- error message is:
Windows cannot be installed on this computer with the current system BOIS versoin. Contact your computer manufacturer for a BIOS update, install the update, and then start windows instalation again. OEM Name: Dell Inc.; OEM Model: Inspiroin 1720 ; BIOS Version: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A04; BIOS Date: 20071105000000.000000+000

-- So, I went to dell and downloaded BIOS A09

-- I went to run it but I am told I have to be an administrator

-- After reading online how to be an admin of my own computer, I logged in as "safe mode" and try to run it again

-- now is where the fun starts -- I get a new error -- it tells me that it won't run due to a flash error, something like this:

BIOS Flash A09 Inspiron 1720

0X00000610
0X0000043C

I've looked online but don't see a solution. I hope I'm posting this in the right place. Would appreciate some advice. I've spent a lot of money on Vista. because it was so *** I added ram and now have 4GB. I also spent $75 to have someone look at my com
