I just made 3rd reinstall of WinXP on the JetWay V600DAP mobo I recently recapped and that run entierly prime stable at this config:
Barton mobile 2600+ @ 3400+ (200x11.5) 1.575Vcore
512MB DDRAM 2.5-3-3-7 2.50V
200G Seagate 8MB cache (ST3200822A)
GF2 MX400 32MB
CDRW Artec RW-5224 52x24x52
...but the booting time is extremly slow. I don't know why, but as soon, as the WinXP boot logo appear on screen, the machine wait there like 2, maybe 3 minues (!) doing absolutely NOTHING (no HDD activity at least) and I tried even 200 x 10.5 to run slow, but no help. Also, this happen even on the very first reboot, so nothing of my WinXP optimalizations could be source of this problem. Not to mention that I already installed like 10 other folding machines with exactly that WinXP and using exactly that settings and optimalizations and later registry tweaks and disabled autoruns. Exactly same.
But from reboot one, on this mobo, it is slow. Then it run like normal, but the boot, well... this is terrible one. I figured out it have something to do with the CDRW drive. This is the only one device, that show a warning sign in the devices and it does also not work in the windows!
It sit alone peacefully on the secondary channel, as master, so I changed it to be slave. No difference, except now most of the time the IDE activity LED is light, during the wait, however the wait itself is not gone :(
Weird. And I installed the XP from the CD, so...
Next step was to replace ATA133 round cable with a normal ATA33 cable. No change in behaviour, tough.
Next step - completely unplug the CDRW drive.
Result - booting w/o a delay!
So, a Artec CDRW drive, model WSM-52X is the cause of the trouble.
It is made by "Ultima electronic corp.", Taiwan.
Last time I checked for some firmware update, their site was there:

Now it is gone.
Anyone know, where it go? And anyone know, what to do with that CDRW? :p
